Hey Guys

Just though I would share some of my thoughts about my recent trip to DLRP.

This was only my second trip to DLP but I've been several times to DL in Anahiem. I had already decided to buy an annual pass on this trip as I have wanted to visit the park more and have several holidays due this year and want to get to know DLP better.

I spent lots of time this trip just soaking up the atmosphere in the park, and not being critial but I still prefer the feeling of the original DL. I certainly feel that DLP is the most astetically pleasing park and the best designed and it looks fantastic and it well looked after (unlike DL). I think my difference in feeling is due to the fact that DLP seems to be populated by many more teenagers and adolescents that the american parks and this leads to a differnt atmosphere in the park. But I feel the amazing look of DLP more than makes up for this, and I imagine there is a very differnt feeling when the schools are not on holiday!

I'll start with the studios, as it was my first visit there. I have to begin by confessing that I am one of the few people who love the much maligned DCA, so was looking forward to seeing what DLRP's second gate was like after all the hype I'd read on the web. Well I wasn't disapointed, I though the attractions were great and the atmosphere was good. I feel this park might have disapointed if I had bought a ticket just for it, instead of an annual pass. I think this park is a great addition to DL and they have realised that it is not a full day park yet by the ticketing option with the evening in DL. I feel this park will be great when it gets a few more attractions and fills out a bit more. When people moan about DCA and WDS I compare it to WDW where not many people visit as individual parks but as a proper resort for a long stay, and once DLRP gets a third gate (long way off) and a water park (no comment about the weather - I was there during the heatwave and would have paid a fortune to visit a water park!) it will be a fantastic resort, and WDS will be integral part of it.
Just a few comments about individual attractions. The stunt show really blew me away, as I'd never seen anything like it before, it was great, just the sort of top class E-Ticket attraction I've come to expect from Disney. I believe they've changed it from it opened, and it was noticable that the water at the front was not used.
I loved the Rock and Roller Coaster, it worked really well. Before riding it I was very sceptical, Space Mountain is the best indoor Dark coaster so why build another one - I was wrong. Also the theme confused me a bit, how could a rollercoaster work with a rock concert theme, but it does and really well,as you are zooming through the lights and gantrys and smoke, it does have and great feel.
Amrageddon, well it was ok, put it like this, I only did it once, and that was because I could tell it would always be filled with petrified screaming chilren.
I relly liked cinemagique, thought the concept worked really well and it was enjoyable for both adults and children.
I though the tram tour has great potential, Catastrophe canyon was great but the scene from Reign of Fire was terrible, I was expecting at least an anamatronic dragon to pop up, but no just a blast off fire, hadn't we just expeciienced fire AND water in the canyon?
The Disney Cinema Prade was good, the children loved it, but was it jsut me but it is the tightest parade ever, it seemed like the floats were so close together, they could have easily spaced them out a bit more, for a longer look at them.

Now over at DL, things are looking great. I have harldy a thing to moan about - except the wait times for BTMR but that's nothing new! Everything was working perfectly and the place was lookin great. The only thing I would say was I didn't see enough characters out and about entertaining the kids.
I just loved Fantillusion, thought it was the best disney parade I've ever seen. It just a shame we didn't get mroe floats from Japan. I watched it the first time from the lamppost at the top of main st just past the path to Liberty Arcade, this got me a really good view of Maleficient and the first princess float (Snow White I think?). This wasn't a bad place to watch, but the next time I plonked myself at about 9 0'clock on the inside of the hub. This had me right in front of the Pluto and Goofy float which the kids loved when it stopped and a great view of Jafar and Ariel's Floats. This was also a great spot to stay for the fireworks, but I reckon the best spot for the parade would have been on the outside of the hub as you would have had a wider field of view. The fireworks were great, though not quite as good as Believe, but the lighting effects on the castle made it a close run thing!

Si it was a great two days in the magic and I can't wait to go back soon!
Have a Disney day
