PIONEERING ASTRONAUT BUZZ ALDRIN AND ACTOR JERRY O'CONNELL WILL HOST ABC'S TELECAST OF "MISSION TO MARS" ON AUGUST 16 FROM MISSION: SPACE, THE THRILLING NEW ATTRACTION AT EPCOT AT THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT IN FLORIDA

Sci-Fi Drama Makes Its Network Television Debut in HDTV
With 5.1-Channel Surround Sound and Video Description

Buzz Aldrin, who, along with Neil Armstrong, made the historic Apollo XI moon walk to become the first two humans to walk on another celestial surface, and actor Jerry O'Connell, who stars in "Mission to Mars," will host the ABC Television Network's AUGUST 16 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET) telecast of the thrilling sci-fi drama. Aldrin and O'Connell will host the "ABC Saturday Night at the Movies" presentation from the thrilling new Mission: SPACE attraction at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida

As the perils of space exploration unfold in "Mission to Mars," directed by Brian De Palma ("Mission: Impossible"), Aldrin and O'Connell will provide viewers with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Mission: SPACE at Epcot. More than five years in the making, Mission: SPACE was created by Walt Disney Imagineers with the help of astronauts and consultants from NASA. The attraction creates an incredibly realistic space experience as guests feel the rush of a pulse-racing lift-off and the intense sensations of space travel.

Mission: SPACE is the most technologically advanced attraction ever designed by Walt Disney Imagineers. As the movie progresses, so will the "mission" the hosts undertake at Epcot.

"Mission to Mars," making its network television premiere in HDTV format with 5.1-channel surround sound and video description via SAP, stars Oscar nominee Gary Sinise ("Forrest Gump"; "Apollo 13").

"Mission to Mars" is a taut sci-fi drama telling the story of a team of astronauts who undertake a daring and desperate rescue mission to Mars, where a previous mission has met with tragedy. The four-man rescue team consists of the mission leader and his wife (Oscar nominee for "Dead Man Walking," Tim Robbins; and Connie Nielsen of "Gladiator" and "One Hour Photo"), a technical specialist (O'Connell of TV's "Crossing Jordan" and "Sliders") and a backup commander (Sinise).
