I recieved an invitation the other day to attend a “Borg Breakfast” on August 1st where the details of their Newest Entertainment Mission would be announced. Sounds like our long rumored 4D Theater to me. Stand-by for more info!

More details on the new Borg 4-D movie from ScreamScape.com...
In the Spring of 2004, Star Trek: The Experience will open their new 4D Theater attraction, Borg Invasion. This new attraction will serve as a stand-alone attraction with a second ticket price, separate from the existing attraction already in place. Borg Invasion 4D will combine live actors with the in theater special effects and action it seems as your group is captured by the Borg drones on a mission to assimilate you all into the collective. The facts sheet claims that this attraction will feature the largest number of sensory effects ever done in a 4D theater before, including atmospheric and hydraulic effects, physical probes, and pneumatic actuators. This will also be the first time that a live action steady-cam “stereo shot” with real-time 3D playback on the screen will be used. Translation... one of the live actors will be running around with a 3D video camera rig that will be broadcasted on the big screen at the same time... so I’m guessing this may simulate some kind of Borg Vision effect. Of course, this also seems to indicate that the Borg Invasion 4D theater will use top of the line digital video projection equipment instead of film, as we have seen Universal do this past year with their Shrek 4D attraction with great success. The film itself will feature Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Alice Krige (Borg Queen) and Kate Mulgrew (Admiral Janeway).
