My mom and I will be staying at Loews in a few weeks with my children, 10 & 4. It looks like a beautiful resort and I want to make sure that we make the most of our stay. We will be there for 4 nights, and we have a rental car, as we will be driving to the zoo and to Legoland. Has anyone ever stayed here? What should we be sure not to miss? Also, the room we have has a full bay view, which sounds beautiful, but I'm wondering if the pool/marina view would be funner for the kids? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you!

I have never personally stayed there but my niece has and she raves about it.

Hmm. The bay view? As in a view of the Coronado Bay Bridge? Well, just two nights ago I stood out on a terrace and thanked my lucky stars to have such a view. Beautiful.

I didn't see the pool.

I heard from my niece that they will drive you over to the Silver Strand, set you up with chairs and an umbrella and maybe lunch, too. That is cool. I would do that. As I hate carting around that stuff.......

You might want to drive up the Strand into Coronado {the Loews is actually along the strand} and walk along their Orange Avenue and just check out the little shops or park along the beach and walk through the Hotel Del Coronado.

Old Town is a nice little adventure as well as Balboa Park. You can also go to the Ferry Landing on Coronado and ride the ferry across to Seaport Village. It is a little walk over to the village but a nice walk.

I also think I remember my niece mentioning that the hotel does nice things for the kids. So, make sure and search that on their site and make sure to ask if you don't find something.

Have fun!!

Thanks MouseWife! You're right, I think I will stay with the bay view. We can get a view of a pool anywhere, but how often do you get a view of the Coronado Bay??? We will definately check out Orange Avenue, and the del Coronado. Sounds like there are so many things to do there....we can't wait. Thanks again!!! :)

Coronado:  a Must-Visit area. Just walk from the Del to
your left and you are on the 'main drag.' Head out in the
morning and interract with the locals.

Old Town:  Save your money, please. Yes, this is a
state park but it has turned into a tourist trap, in my opinion.
For the real old town experience, just bring enough money for
gas and maybe lunch. Keep out of the souvenir stores. Mid-
week is the best time to go.

Seaport Village: :| Keep away (see Old Town), but it does have
nice views of the bay.

La Jolla:  If you liked the shopping in Coronado, you'll love it in La
Jolla. Just bring more your AMex/Visa card. Must sees: The
Cove, the children's pool (overrun by seals/sea lions), and if you
are lucky, the museum of contemporary art might be showing the
special version of the festival of animation. ;)

Cabrillo Monument: :D Best views of the city are from the
lighthouse. The second best are from the pull-off area next to
the Battery Ashburn gate. Be sure to visit the tidepools (but use
the SECOND parking lot, and walk to your left about 1/8 of a mile
to find the best route DOWN the hillside to the pools. The walk
IS worth it (bring beat up walking shoes).

The Zoo: :D See it. bring shoes.

Ok, thats all for now. Really.... :)
