I'm going to the resort next week, and I'll be renewing my PAP that expired in december of last year. Since I got this one in December of '10, I still have the card with my picture on it. If I renew online, and get the e-ticket, when I go to the gates, will I be forced to get the new non-picture-having card? Is there any way to keep my current card? I also haven't seen any news about AP's in a while. Did they ever figure out a way to not have to check your ID everywhere when using the new cards?

No, you will get a new card. You do have to show your ID for discounts.

You don't want to do an actual renewal, though. You want a new pass that starts now - and gives you the whole year from now. Renewals will keep your December expiration date (if they even let you do a renewal this far past expiration)

Oh yeah, that's a good point. thanks for the reminder on that one. I still wish I could use the card with the photo, but oh well.

Even before the change, you had to get a new card each year because the expiration date is printed right on it.
