I'm planning a one night, weekday trip to USH with my girlfriend. Does anyone have any suggestions and tips in picking a hotel? (Wondering if the nearby hotels are safe) Tips on touring the park and nearby attractions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Plus, i'm coming from San Diego... how's the dreaded L.A. traffic when heading north?

(Hey, its also my first post :) )

Traffic in LA sucks, it doesnt matter where you come from. Give yourself plenty of time.

As far as hotels.... depends on the money. You have the Hilton and Sheraton right there on the same hilltop. You also have the Beverly Garland Hotel which is on Ventura/Vineland and then a few more minutes down Ventura is the Sportsman Lodge which usually runs a discount if you mention some key universal word. Call Guest Relations at USH to find out more details. You usually get something for about $89 with that. Its really nice there.

As far as other attractions.... if you are only coming 1 day then you will pretty busy. You can go inside Guest Relations when you arrive and they can help you plan the day and make the most of your time.

WHen your done, you could walk around Citywalk and see a movie or eat dinner at one of the many resturants they have up there.

http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16357 (http://) is a link to a previous thread on USH hotels.

I just returned from a trip and stayed at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn. Very nice and comfortable. You should be able to get $100 rate or less. Rates at the Hilton or Sheraton wil run about $150 comparatively. BGHI runs a free shuttle service to USH every hour. Very convenient and we used it both days. Did the park and stayed over into CityWalk both nights. As you exit USH at closing there is a CM that issues dinner reservations for resaurants. She has all the menus there to help you decide. Used this service both nights. In the few minutes we took to walk to the restaurant, we were able to sit at our table in a matter of 5 minutes or less.

We also bought USH tickets on line. The online deal is 2 day ticket for the price of one day. This may work well for you to stretch it over two partial days.

Goodluck!

Thanks for the hotel recommendations. My girlfriend and I also appreciate the other helpful hints.

We'll definitely be sure to leave early to avoid L.A.'s "rush hour."

A friend of mine also recommended at staying in the Beverly Garlands Holiday Inn as well. He was able to visit all the attractions in one day and still leave the park early, mind you this was early spring. I'll also look into the Sportsman Lodge. If only a few more blocks I can recieve a better rate, then all the better.

Nice hints with dinner reservations, I'll be sure to use them when we visit citywalk.
