I spend way to much time playing Trainz (www.virtualtrainz.com), and Microsoft Train Simulator. (http://www.microsoft.com/games/trainsim) Almost as much time, here on MP. :fez:

When I saw this, The RailDriver Desktop Cab Controller (http://www.raildriver.com/rdcontrols/desktop.htm), I wanted one. Now, coming next Thursday, I will have one in my house. :D

It looks so cool! Now, I'll be ready for that top secret plan to take over the train industry.
I shouldn't have said that. :~D

Anyhow, I'll give you a review when I get it! :D

Well, here's a small, points based review:

Quality: (4.5/5) Well, it's really sturdy, and the handles feel firm, and the reverser provides a soothing click into place. The 3 position switches are also heavy duty, and the buttons are nice. However, the whole unit is made out of plastic, but the bottom is metal.

Fun (5/5): Who'd thought that driving a train with real controls would be so fun! With the built in sub woofer, the whole controller shakes, when the motor is running, and you can fell the vibration on the handles, and it's feels like the real thing!

Software (3.5/5): I gave this a low review, because of the way it handles with Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS). With Trainz, the controller fires up, when you enter Driver, and it's all configured, and ready to go, and the handles move at the exact same rate as the on-screen one. However, in MSTS, the controller is a "virtual keyboard". This means, if you move the automatic brake, a long distance, the computer has to catch up. Also, you have to launch MSTS with the RailDriver software. And, you have to select the engine you plan to use, as it has to load the correct layout file.

Value (4.5/5): For the quality, it's well worth the $149. Also, soon, you will be able to use it in any program, and that's an added plus. Also, there will be a connector, that allows you to hook it up to a Model Railroad, and control your model trains with it.

Overall, I give it a (4.3/5). It's great, my only major gripe, is that you have to apply the labels yourself. ;) Overall, it's darn cool.
