View Full Version : Is it possible to do Knott's in a day?
.....and if not, what would you kind people recommend as "must sees"?
Bearing in mind that I am a 31 year old big kid who will trty anything once!!!
:D
DisneyFreak2000 08-21-2001, 09:04 PM Yes. Be sure to ride Supreme Scream, Perilous Plunge, Bommerang, Montezuma, Ghost Rider, Bigfoot Rapids, Dinosaur.
BTW, what's with Windjammer is it being replaced?
These all sound like coasters(I have seen the pics of SS-looks WILD).
What about Disney style attractions?
Anything at Knott's similar to these?
And I can revel in the fact that I can say HERE without the fear of being censored(unlike OTHER places *cough LP cough*)that a "Disney Style attraction" is something that TAKES YOU SOMEWHERE and IMMERSES you in a STORY...rather than simply making you puke your guts up from motion sickness.

But I like the Motion Sickness.:( :) :D ;)
DisneyFreak2000 08-21-2001, 09:45 PM Unless you mean Disney as in Paradise Pier, no Disney style attractions here. If they updates Dinsoaurs, it has potential (or even the Haunted Shack did too), but no story like attractions.
Uuuuuummmmmmm.........no.
I DID NOT mean anything from PP.
As far as I am concerned PP is NOT Disney.
And the "PP" there can ALSO stand in for Paul Pressler as well.
Although he would like to THINK he is Disney......
winniepooh 08-21-2001, 11:20 PM When I visited Knotts in 98, I spent one afternoon there.
If your not into the coasters the park is not that interesting..
But I have heard that is has improved since then..
It's definitely possible to do Knott's in a day. I agree with the previous poster that said "if you're not into coasters, there's not much to do". My teenage son-a coaster warrior-LOVED the park. His little brother loved Camp Snoopy. Their parents smiled dutifully while anticipating a great chicken dinner at Mrs. Knott's restaurant. If you like fried chicken-don't miss Mrs. Knott's-if the line is too long, they have a take out window.
Thank you very much for that information.
Greatly appreciated.
FredofLasVegas 08-27-2001, 03:10 PM In addition to Ghostrider, Supreme Scream, Montezooma's Revenge, Perilous Plunge you absolutely must not miss two of Knott's signature attractions---two which define the park as Knott's Berry Farm.
They are:
1. Timber Mountain Log Ride
2. Calico Mine Train
People complain that Knott's doesn't have Disney caliber rides, but these two are. TMLR is argubly the best flume ever built---yes, maybe even better than Splash Mountain. Calico Mine Train is...well, see for yourself.
Also don't miss out on the Stagecoach and Tampico Tumbler.
BTW, Windjammer, was romoved and sold for scrap. Knott's is sueing the manfacuter of the ride, Togo, due to a very poorly designed coaster which plagued Knott's from day one. Windjammer was also regarded as one of the worst steel coasters in the country.
DisneylandBoy 09-13-2001, 06:23 PM No, you cannot do Knott's in a day . . . .
You can do it in three hours. When I went with my friends on a Sunday in January, we had done the entire park by 12:00. That's right. We ate lunch and started doing everythign again!
I was sad to hear that Windjammer was going to be removed a while back, since it was the first coaster with a loop that I went on- sentimental value I guess- really liked it.. but I guess, if the rumors are true, the replacement will be worth it- I've heard a number of places it could be a coaster that out-do's Cedar Fairs (or is it Point? I cant remember that for some reason) 300+ foot coaster... hopefully they do that... or some other new coaster thats great.
MammaSilva 10-26-2001, 12:21 AM If you are looking for Disney type rides at Knotts you are going to be very disappointed...after 12 years of going to Disneyland this past August I decided that maybe the teenaged nephews wanted to try something a bit different....and these kids are coaster riding fools....we went to Knotts on a Sunday, no crowds in the morning and in addition we had the Knotts version of special assistance pass....we did the log ride and the mine train then we strolled thru the park letting them ride whatever they wanted, the kids were bored within 3 hours max....their comments were that they could ride stuff like that at home at Marine World they wanted DISNEY... so we left at 1 and were back inside Disneyland by 5 (took a little snooze in between)

YES!!! What he said!
I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned these.
DO NOT MISS these two rides. This is the 'real' Knott's!
coronamouseman 10-31-2001, 08:24 PM Yes - you can hit all of the thrill rides at Knott's in one day but .....
If you are a western history buff then you may need a whole day or more to go through the original Ghost town portion of Knott's. I won't go through the whole story here but most all of the buildings in the "Ghost Town" are authentic and imported from various sites from the surrounding California and Arizona desert areas.
Knott's also has a variety of shops still run by various craftspersons which exhibit authentic technology from the past
(their blacksmith will design for you a customized brand if you want - I know because we had one made with our high-tech companie's logo a few years ago!) In fact, Knott's works with many local schools to bring in kids to show them authentic crafts and conditions from the old west.
And Knott's Mine Train ride is terrific - I think it won an award from some amusement park magazine for it's authenticity and the Disney guys that designed Big Thunder Mountain openly have discussed in various places that they considered it to be a standard against which their new attractions quality would be measured.
MouseWife 11-12-2001, 10:29 AM I hope that I am not repeating things here, but, here goes.
Knott's isn't Disneyland. But, it does have so much history! It is the original theme park!
Yes, there are a lot of roller coasters, which I personally do not ride. But, the Camp Snoopy is great for the littler ones, and the crazy carny rides are great for those types, and the more casual rides are great for me. : )
If you go to their webpage, you can see under Company Information {or what ever they call it} that they have won many awards for their rides/exhibits.
I also like the fact that for those of us who don't care for the roller coasters, they have walk through attractions.
Mystery Lodge is awesome, another award winner there. I think that you might get more out of your day there if you go with the idea that you want to learn something as well as have fun. Some of the buildings are authentic, the hotel and school house for sure I know of. The steam train is authentic, as well. The Berry Stand is the original stand and there are actually still shoots growing there, somewhere by there.
Okay, my son did a report on Knott's for his final. But still, it is all so fascinating to me!
Wackokid 11-12-2001, 11:46 AM you have to ride Ghostrider, Montezooma, and Supreme Scream at least once
