Okay, so I have this one XP machiene that REFUSES to "see" a 98SE computer. It just refuses to connect to it. All my other computers (both with XP and 98) can "see" it just fine. When I try to enter the network path to it, it says "not a valid network path, contact your system administrator". So recently, Monorail Man told me to install a certine protocule and to run through the "Home/ Small Office networking setup". I did that and all was fine until today, when I get a message that says "\\Server is not accessiable. You do not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found."

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you so much!

Try adding the IPX/SPX/NetBIOS protocol to both machines' network configurations. This allowed me to "see" each machine from the other when I couldn't over straight TCP/IP.

Let's talk computer voodoo:

I've also had this problem. Run the wizard again. Then Restart.

(Hey, it works for me!) :)

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunantly, they didn't work :( The shared directories appear in My Network Places, but when I click them, I get the same error. :(

That seems to happen with XP. It puts the drives there but you cannot access them. I have to end up clicking on My Network Places, View Workgroup Computers then double click on the computer I want to access which works.

Did you add NetBeui in the network components? You need NetBeui to share your files. You might want to run the "Set up a home or small office network" again and make sure you specify the same workgroup name that is on your 98 machine. All the computers have to access the same workgroup in order to see each other.

Try the first suggestion first. If that doesn't work, then add netbeui (if you haven't) and run the setup again.

I've tried that and also tried going to NetHood. Didn't work :(

Both have NetBeui installed, and they both are in a "MSHOME" workgroup
