OK, I am just going to SCREAM with all these issues happening at once.

I do not have a virus. I did a full scan.

When I plug my ipod in to the comptuer it doesn't dectect it. I just got done checking the internal connections, everything is plugged in. I tried all 3 ports on the card, none of them detect it.

I did a troubleshoot, doesn't find anything wrong with the card. I tried to "enable" the ipod and it says that Windows cannot enable the ipod. I tried to view my ipod through my xplay and it can't find the ipod. The ipod says it is safe to disconnect.

It used to work and I have done nothing to any of the programs that would effect it since the last time it worked!!!!!!!

Anyone have any ideas??

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH STUPID COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, make sure your Virus Scanner is up to date.

Next, try plugging your IPod into another computer to make sure the cord isn't defective. If none of that works, I would suggest trying to reinstall Windows. Sure, you lose all your info (unless you backup before you reinstall), but you will stop having all these problems :)

First, make sure your iPod is not plugged in when your starting Windows. Wait until WIndows has fully started. Then plug in the iPod.

If Windows doesn't see it now, Right Click "My Computer" and hit properties, (then goto Hardware in XP), or in 9X, go to Device Manager. Now, check for any icons that have a Red X, or a yellow exclmation point. If any do, right click them, and go to "Uninstall", or "Remove". Say "Yes" to this box (You can't actually remove hardware without taking it out of the computer!). Now, restart, and try again, this time keeping the iPod plugged in while Windows is starting.

If you get any "New Device Found" messages, insert the appropiate CD for that hardware, such as for your IEEE1394 (Or as Mac people call it: Firewire) card, or your System Restore CD, which should ahve drivers on it. (Or your Computer may have come with a "Driver" CD). :)

MM,

I seriously hope you are considering a career in tech support. You're awesome!

Thank You. :)

Actually, I loveTech. Support. However, I prefer to fix the problems myself, not tell people how to fix them. This is why I want to become the "guru you call for help" in some sort of office. I love fixing stuff, because it provides me with a new challenge. :)

I can agree with you there! I have always been the "guru" in the offices I have worked in. I am in no way a guru, I just know more than your average bear. My current boss is a "dinosaur" (in his own words). I was helping him format a web page for printing today and he wanted me to tell him what to do. I have a really hard time doing that when most of the time I work on intuition combined with knowledge. I know he wants to learn, but it took us 12 times longer to formate the page then it would if I just did it.

Patience...it's always about patience.

So, (OT) I take it your IPOD is working again?:fez:

Yep, its being reconized by the computer. Now I have sadly learned that my DL soundtrack is long gone off my hard drive (buh bye Space music and buh bye Belive and Fantasmic music).

I am going through all my CDs and music and going to re-burn everything onto my HD. Now I just need to find a free program to burn stuff from .wmp to .mp3 or .wav.

Use Windows Media Player.

www.windowsmedia.com/download

It allows you to copy from CD to Hard Drive. (wmp format only) :) I recommend getting the new Windows Media Player (9 Series). It now rips at even smaller sizes. :) Also, make sure to un-select "Copy Protect Music" in "Tools..." -> "Options..." -> "Copy Music" tab. I normally use 128 bit rate (slider), but you might try 256. :)

Also, you don't have the lingo correct. When you go from Computer to CD it's burn. When you go from CD to Computer it's rip. :D :geek:

MM,

I hate Windows Media Player but thanks anyways. It doesn't allow me to burn CDs in MP3 format, nor does it convert .wmp to MP3 and the ipod will not reconize .wmp. I use Real but I don't have the $$ to pay for Real One and get access to the conversion features.

I heard Apple is going to release an itunes for windows sometime this year. I can't wait. (and for the record, IMHO the only reason to buy a Mac is for itunes).

Well, there's always DMC (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm). A FREEWARE MP3 ripper. :)

From the Site:
Straight out of the box dMC can convert to and from Wave, Mp3 and from CD Audio (CDA) files...What's more dMC is free...dBpowerAMP software does not contain any 'Spyware' 'Add sponsorship' or other nasties - Free means Free!

Sounds good to me!
