Ok,
I installed SpamPal. I figured out the "whitelist" and the "blacklist". I have the setting set to the highest, got blatent "adult" spam that neither spampal or my filters caught.
Help?

When SpamPal decides a message is spam, it tags the subject line with "**SPAM**". Have you set up a filter in your email client to move messages with "**SPAM**" in the subject line to a separate folder?
Also, in the "Advanced" section of the configuration dialog, is the "Don't filter mail at all" checkbox checked? If so, clear it.
Oh, and did you change the POP3 settings in your mail client to go through SpamPal? I don't know what email client you're using, but there are detailed instructions for many popular ones here (http://www.spampal.org/usermanual/).
Edit: Corrected **SPAM** header.

Here are the DNSBL lists I have selected. They provide a good mix without too many false positives. In fact, I get perhaps one or two false positives a week, at most--and since potential spam is filtered to a "check later" folder, it just means I don't read it right away.
The list:
SpamSites
Spamhaus SBL
ORDB
proxies.relays.monkeys.com
I also set up my ten or fifteen most common "good" sender addresses in the whitelist, just to save time.

Hi Andrew,
I followed the instructions to configure my POP3 settings to work with SpamPal and keep getting error messages. I think I am not setting the correct areas to the correct settings. I am not finding the instructions on SpamPal all that clear (and I consider myself computer literate).
I'm not sure how to find out which specific email client I am using. I think it is Earthlinks standard email client. It is not outlook express.

I wish I was there, or could work remotely. I'm sure we could get it working quickly. Have a look at the SpamPal FAQ (http://www.spampal.org/faqengine/faq.php?list=all&prog=spampal&lang=en), maybe that'll help. Feel free to IM me (screen names are in my profile) if you want.

For anyone using SpamPal: The new UI in beta 1.291 (http://www.spampal.org/beta.html) is just beautiful.
