WDW ticket questions-1st timer

I've been searching but haven't figured this out...

If you get a 4 day WDW base ticket, can you add days later for the same price difference as what is posted online, or is it priced much higher like Disneyland? (We have one person in our party that will probably go every other day that the rest go due to medical reasons.)

If you add the Water parks option to the ticket, can you go to the water parks on a day that you don't go to one of the four major parks? (Our trip is 14 days total and we currently have 10-day base tickets.) Water parks would be totally separate from the 4 major parks, right?

If you have a 4 day ticket and want to add additional days, you pay the incremental difference per day, much like it is posted online.

If you add the WP&M option, the WP&M entries are separate from the major park entries. Which is nice because many people stretch out their ticket that way, much like the way you are talking.

I believe that Disney just changed the way they treat 'upgrading' the WDW tickets ('cause that's what you're talking about doing, upgrading a 4 day ticket to a 7 day, or whatever). I don't recall the details of what that change was, and I always mess up what the requirements are for DL vs WDW (because they were different, and may still be different).

I would recommend upgrading the ticket when or before the last day of admission is used. I think that's what the new requirement is.

I believe that Drince is correct.... you would need to upgrade the ticket before entering parks using its last admission. So, do keep that in mind so its so much of a last minute decision.

So let me get this straight: if I am staying for 10 days and plan to do two days of waterparks, I only need to buy an 8 day waterpark and more pass? You can skip days? It sounds rather obvious; I can't believe I didn't catch this before (although, yes, I can; I'm rather dense at times). However, obvioulsy I won't be able to go to any of the parks on those two days or else I'll lose one of my days. Is all this correct? I'm not sure it will save me much money, but who knows.

Along the lines of this topic, another question:

I purchased a 5 day ticket with no park hopper, no water park and not the no expiry feature.

Can i part way through add the park hopper, and if so, would the price be the park hopper rate for only the days that are left on the ticket. I.E. if after 2 days i add park hopper would i just pay park hopper on the last 3 days ?

Any idea how much it is to add park hopper?

Yes, you can add hopper part way through but I am not sure how they would calculate the extra cost.

fleming: And even for options that are different prices based on the number of days of the tickets, you have to pay based on the number of days of the ticket, not the number of days LEFT on the ticket. So you don't save any money by delaying adding something if you know you're going to add it.

petesimac: The water parks and more option makes it like you have two tickets in one.
The main ticket (base) is for the 4 major theme parks (MK, AK, Studios, Epcot). If you don't have hopping or no expiration, you have entry to any one park on any day, up to the number of entries that you purchased, for 14 days from the first day you used the ticket. So if you bought a 3 day ticket, you can use it on October 1st, October 3rd, and October 13th (I'm not exactly sure how the 14 days is counted, so I'm trying to be safe here.

SEPARATELY, the water parks & more option adds entries to MINOR parks - the two water parks, Disney Quest, ESPN Wide Worls of Sports or 9 holes at Oak Trail. So you could use these 3 entries on October 4, October 6, and October 11th, if that's what you wanted.

OR if you bought a 10 day ticket, you could go to a Major theme park AND a minor park every day for 10 days, because they are separate.

If you add park hopping, that only applies to the major theme park half of the ticket; if you want to go to Blizzard Beach and then Disney Quest on the same day, you CAN, but that would take two entries.

If you don't add park hopping, you can NOT use two entries of your major theme park ticket on the same day to go to MK in the morning and finish out the day at Epcot.

Remember, you're buying ENTRIES to parks, not calendar days.

The new rule is you have to add days before the end of the last valid day on your ticket (similar to Disneyland). Park hopping is the same price whether you have a 2 day or 10 day ticket. I believe it's $55+tax.

This post includes the assumption you have a ten day MYW ticket with both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires 14 days after first use unless you have the no-expire (NE) option. If you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail* in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the MYW ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

*Oak Trail is a nine-hole "Executive" walking (no carts) golf course. Each person must have their own set of clubs and they can be rented for $15 per person if they don't bring their own.
