Look under the theme park discussion section of mousepad.

Here, there are numerous theme park names from where you may choose a park you want to talk about. I think under the Disneyland Park forum, there should be a Disneyland History forum listed. Then, we may have a full forum reserved for Disneyland History, where topics about Disneyland's colorful past may be created. Is this possible? Who thinks a new Disneyland History forum should be created? Is this a good idea? What do you think?

Sond good, but because current forums are not overloaded with history threads, it probably won't happen :crying: . Same think happened to my Imagineering forum idea.

If you'd like to see more threads about (for example) Disneyland history, I encourage you to start good ones! We determine what subject areas get dedicated forums (partially) by how much discussion any subject gets.

Imagine that you are at a party. You are walking around, eavesdropping until something interests you. You pause, listen for a while, and maybe participate.

Now, imagine that the many various groups at the party decide that the house is too noisy. They leave, in groups of 3 or 4, to one of the bedrooms, or the guest house, or to one of their cars in the garage.

Sure, you can still walk around the hallways and listen in. But it won't be nearly as fun to eavesdrop, and you are likely to miss some of the side conversations because you are in the main hall.

Obviously, there are some topics that are so well defined and so popular that it would make sense to move a very large group of party-goers into the next room over. The way to check that, is to see what people are talking about in the large hall. If it's just a handful of folks, it's probably better that they stay in the main hall room.

Think of it this way: Just because someone is talking about a specific subject, does not mean that subject should turn into its own forum. If we do that, it becomes compartmentalized, and discourages general discussion by the members at large. For example, a reader may not think a forum about Disneyland history is interesting, and just never go in there because of some assumptions. If a thread is posted in the Disneyland forum, however, it will be part of the general discussion, and the reader will be more likely to take a peek at the thread.

Does that make a bit more sense?

Well, I don't understand why you people are saying that there has to be many topics on a certain park to be its own forum. THERE ARE ONLY 3 or 4 TOPICS ON THE DISNEYLAND PARIS FORUM. Why do you have that forum? Can you administrators explain THAT to me? I'm sure there would be more topics about Disneyland history than DISNEYLAND PARIS!

( I'm just making a statement, it is not ment to be negative, it is just ment for a tiny debate. :) )

Because we created the Paris forum when we established the board. Based on traffic, we might not do so again, but it is there, so we leave it.

Plus, the topics that might be discussed in the Disneyland Paris aren't appropriate for the other Disney Park forums (as currently defined), whereas disneyland history threads already have a happy home: The Disneyland Forum.

But then, I already think we have 5 or 6 too many forums. I strongly dislike boards where the forums are so finely tuned it seems like everything has its own unique forum.

I agree. It also can start to confuse newcomers about where to post their messages, or even if to post them at all if there are too many forums
