We are taking our kids and grandkids to DW end of November, first of December and are staying at Caribbean Beach I have read some bad reviews of the resort and now i am worried. My one grandson has some walking disabilites so where would be a good room location for him at the Caribbean Beach. I think it is now too late to change and get the same rate we have. any suggestions, ideas or thoughts

Caribbean Beach in Orlando, right? I think you meant to put this in the Walt Disney World Forums so I'm going to move it over there. :)

We love the Caribbean Beach Resort. Everything about it was wonderful. Nevertheless, it is quite big and with your grandson's disability this could be a problem if you are put in one of the rooms farther away from the main complex.

Look at the picture in the link above. Old Port Royale or B is the main complex with the main pool, food court etc. (We stayed in building 42 in Jamacia and had a good 5 minute walk to get to the main complex every morning.) However, this would really only be a problem if you were planning on going to the main complex every morning for breakfast, the pool, etc. If you just use your room and none of the main complex's amenities, a bus stop will be close enough to your room no matter where you are located. The Caribbean Beach Resort has 8 bus stops so one of which should be close enough to your room. Nevertheless, if you want to use the main complex/pool etc. I would reccomend calling Disney, telling them your situation, and asking them for a room close to the main complex (Buildings 24, 25, 26, 31, 32, and 33).

Hope this helps! It is a beautiful resort with great amenities. Have a great trip!

Did you make your reservations or did you go through a Travel Agent? If an Agent, call and ask them to note in your reservation notes to be near either the main building or near the bus stop. If you made them, call Disney directly and ask them the same. TELL THEM about the walking issues--you'll be more likely to get what you requested. It's a slower time of year that week, so hopefully you won't encounter a full resort. CBR is a VERY VERY big resort and walking would indeed be an issue if you were sent into the hinterlands. When you check in, if they happened to put you out there, gently tell them why you need to be closer to a bus stop or main building. They will, if at all possible (but not guaranteed) move you.

Will you use bus transportation to the parks or have a rental car?

It is a lovely resort, by the way....

We have stayed at CBR and I really enjoyed it. POFQ is my top choice for a moderate. But at CBR, if you get in a building far from the CS and restaurant, it's quite a walk. I would like to stay there again and try the Pirate Theme room. The main pool is nice as are the several quiet pools that are offered.

We thought the CS food was good! The background music is so nice, I wish I had the CD for it. :D

If you want to be close to the action, request a building closer to the bus stops and Main building.

CBR also has an internal bus loop - so you CAN easily take a bus from any bus stop to Old Port Royale. You may have to wait - the bus just loops through the resort again and again and again, so if you just miss it, you'll have to wait for it to come around again.

We rented a car that year at CBR. But, the year we stayed at POFQ, we took the buses. It was a cinch at POFQ for the bus system because of the smaller size. However, we still looped around and picked people up at POR.
