At some point this weekend, MousePad will become available for 15-30 minutes while I do some needed maintenance.

I expect this to occur at some point on Saturday late morning - early afternoon, but that is subject to change.

That is UNACCEPTABLE! Can't you do your maintenance at a reasonable time pf day, like 3am? Sheesh!

Not Afraid, what does it matter what time the maintenance is done? Why can't you post at 3am in the morning?

Because I am SLEEPING. Tony shouldn't be allowed to sleep and therefore do the maintenance when the rest of us - especially me - are sleeping!

Sorry, this is MousePad, not CalTrans. :D And some of us who haven't seen our husbands ALL WEEK would prefer that they be elsewhere at 3:00 a.m.

That's OK Tony.

But if I start shaking uncontrollably from the withdrawls it will be your fault!;)

Seriously, I hope everything goes as well as planned. And thank you for your hard work!:) And thanks for the heads-up.

Ok, the outage part of the maintenance is completed, however, you may experience slower performance intermittantly throughout the day.

Why do all the Administrators/Moderators now have blue status lines? Is this because of the new upgrade?

This is not a new feature from the upcoming upgrade, but it's something that we've wanted to do for a while.

This helps to make it more obvious to the casual or new reader the difference between a Moderator / Administrator, and someone who just plays one online.

Sweet New Blue Lines.

But why Blue?
If your looking with a color with autority, I say RED.

Just look at all the real-word moderation the color red does:

Stop
Don't Turn
Lane Closed (The Fab Red X)
Don't Park
Do not enter

Also, red has been shown to grab your eye more than 20% of the time.
Who's the real blood of the board? The moderators of course!

Also, it contrasts nicely with the board background.

"When it comes to keeping users in line...if you don't pick red, your board's dead!"

Look, I am all for maintenance and what not. But I am sitting here staring a full waste paper basket. Isn't someone supposed to come around and clean up, too? Or is that left up to me? Come on MP, get on the ball. My area is a mess! And who stole the tape dispenser off my desk? This is unacceptable.

Sorry, I'll be right over.

Tref, I must confess it was I who stole all the blue pens from your desk.

Won't happen again. :D

How dare you! Those blue pens were stolen by me on my grandfather's deathbed! I leaned over him to say goodbye, when I noticed his stash of classic bic banana pens. I knew then I had to make them my own. "Look!" I yelled, pointing to the corner of the room. "Isn't that the light you're supposed to follow?" When he turned his head I grabbed the pens and made a quick exit. Yet, it seems, my friend, that karma, has once again interceded into my life, now that you are in procession of these fine instruments of writing. Though mark my words and remember them well, he who processes those pens has the power to write on any surface that allows for the absorption of ink. Not many can handle that kind of power. It those pens were to fall into the wrong hands, there is no telling what could be written with them; parking tickets, bad poetry, an episode of Becker. Be careful. And God help us all.

Tref, you misread -

We said Server Maintenance, not Maintenance Service.

Please try to be more observant in the future. If it helps, we can start writing these notes with Bic Banana pens....

Well, that's convenient ... for you. In the meantime, my wastepaper basket remains un-emptied. I suppose having the MP maintenance crew straighten up my apt is out of the question, too.

Thanks for nothing.
