Has this been posted here before? If so then I missed it. The original high-rez version is so large it was rejected by Microsoft Photo Editor, and my (work) computer freezes for a few when opening it in Paint or IE.

Boy, that brings back memories... The first time I went to Disneyland, the park hadn't been open a year.

I see that the map shows Liberty Square and Edison Street. To my knowledge, these were proposed for Disneyland - but never built. I wonder how they got on an official map?

There is a website called MouseMaps dedicated to those large format DL souvenir maps.

www.mousemaps.com

Lots of cool old maps plus the history and artists who contributed to them!

In the early days, that was Walt's thing. The maps would usually include future attractions and what not. By 1958, the Matterhorn and Monorail were already on park maps as well (they didn't open until 1959). Walt had confidence in the park, and that was reflected on the maps. To my knowledge, Edison Square and Liberty Street had all but broken ground until they decided Tomorrowland was in dire need of a makeover, and had to scrap ES/LS in order to fund that, moving the idea for LS over to WDW.

Love that. I dug my 1976 large map out of the trunk it was stored in and had it mounted on wood. Hangs in my room now.
