Is there a trick to deleting a post? There is a button for it but apparently I'm not authorized. ( I even press it within 10 min. of making the post.)

It sure would come in handy at times.
Thanks.

If you really had to delete a post, I suggest editing it and just removing whatever you didn't want. Or removing the whole text and replacing it with "Do not read this post."

I do edit my posts--all the time--but I was referring to accidentally posting while not logged in under my name.

I realize I'm in a bit of a unique situation, but the delete button seemed to be taunting me 'cause I couldn't get it to work.

The edit/delete button is there because the two functionalities are tied together on the system side.

Only moderators and above have the ability to delete a post though. It was mentioned early on, but bears repeating. Only in the most extreme cases do we want posts deleted; it is a tool that is easily abused and can create an environment of mistrust if people start to think that "reality" is too easily altered.

That is why we don't even delete a post when we think it warrants locking a thread. We want people to see the reasons for our actions and to understand how to avoid it.

When you accidentally post under EandC's name, the best thing is to just follow up and explain that it happened.

Maybe we can look into changing the text of the button, though, so you don't feel we are taunting you.

Or maybe we could change the text to indicate that: This text is only here to taunt you. Perhaps the button could say "Edit/Delete....Psych!"

I totally understand. Thanks for the response.

I was only trying to find a way to mask my faux pas (practicing for DLP ;) ) from the Beloved. I get enough taunting from him over it--the button is redundant.
