We will be on the Dream this Tuesday and I keep reading that at dinner the men should have long pants.. I know my husband already purchased several dress shorts and polo shirts, is this ok??

The only place that long pants (not jeans) are required is Palo.

Meridian (the bar next to Palo) and Remy's also require dress slacks.

In general, while they request that men wear long pants to dinner (and Jeans are ok in this case), they will not refuse to set or serve you if he wears shorts. But, he may feel uncomfortable in shorts, sine he will likely be one of the only people in shorts.

Thank you, that is much better news. We wont be going to Palo. I am trying to gather alot of information before we go and there is so much. We will be bringing our 8 year old grandson with us and he is very excited.
I was also reading that we can have coffee and danish delivered to our stateroom.. is this true.. I like to have my coffee when I first get up and not have to get dressed.
I also read that there is a game room onboard the ship. I am hoping that there is enough to do for my grandson, rather that pay to go to the gameroom

Not to totally derail this thread - but check out this link Click Here (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/youth-clubs/) Your grandson would be prime age for one of the Oceaneer activity areas (I think they're split by age) and I've heard that some kids would spend their whole cruises in there if they could (except maybe for some pool time).

If you want to continue about the kids activities - go ahead and start a new thread.

You might also want to order a Planning DVD from the DCL website. It'll give you a great idea of what to expect.

Ohh, I am so envious. We were on the Dream last April and loved it.
Regarding shorts in the regular dining rooms - DCL requests that shorts not be worn for dinner, but they will not stop you from coming in. We did see a number of people in shorts (mostly on the cruise casual nights). On the dress-up night (during the 4 night cruise), people were a bit more dressy.

Yes, there is a full room service menu. For breakfast, you can select your items on a door hanger type menu and place it outside your room the night before. Then at the time you selected, they will show up with your coffee and danish :-)

Your grandson with love the kid's clubs (my DS just turned 8 and we had to drag him out of there most days, LOL). There is also an arcade but you have to pay for that. In all honesty, my DS had such a good time in the clubs that he never asked to visit the arcade at all. And the kid's clubs are free for his age (there is only a charge for people using the nursery for the 2 and under kids).

From the DCL website (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/dining/animators-palate/):

"The dress code for dinner changes nightly. Check the Personal Navigator for more information while onboard. However, you are requested to not wear tank tops, swim wear, or shorts for dinner."

I know that "dressing up" for dinner may seem anti-vacation, but it does not have to be a big deal either. I tend to pack a few nice polo shirts and a pair of dockers or black jeans and a pair of black shoes for dinner and evening activities. Granted, some people really do it up, but you dont have to.

Think of the guideline to go along the lines of business casual if nothing else.
