My son is 42" tall (with shoes on) but I'm afraid he might have some troubles getting on rides.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a pair of shoes I can buy that would give him a few more inches and be comfortable?

We had a very intense discussion about this issue a little while ago (sorry I'm too lazy to find the thread), but the overall concession was: The height restrictions are there for a reason, primiarly SAFETY. If the ride is only safe for someone over 42" why would you want to endanger the life of someone who is under the height requirement.

I know people probably do this all the time with no issue, but, still I wouldn't want to endanger my child for the sake of a ride at Disneyland.

This topic has come up before, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses. My personal opinion, even tho Disneyland is expensive and for those of us 'far away' it may be several months or years before we get back to the parks, it's just not worth the mixed message and personal safety risk to try and 'cheat' the system by trying to "pad" an extra couple of inches on to your son's height. It may get him past the stick, but when he gets on the ride and the safety bars don't fit him right because he really isn't that tall...his safety is at risk.

If he got hurt who would be to blame?? The height restrictions are in place for the kids safety... just my thoughts on the matter.

I suggest buying him a pair of comfey shoes a couple sizes to large, so when they fit him he really will be tall enough.

See this thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6434&highlight=shoes+height) for more.

I really hate it when parents try to cheat the system that is set up for their childs own safety just so their kid can get on a ride they really are to small for, and then they would probably sue Disney for allowing their child on the ride . I firmly believe that all children should be measured barefoot should be measured barefoot and then have a non removable wrist band color coded with their height no matter how they measure on the 'stick' to put a stop to all attempts by parents to try and provide their child with the magic of Disneyland at the cost of their safety.

I understand all the points that have been made. I had just read other threads about the height signs sloping. I by no means want to put more then a inch on him. As I said he is 42" tall already and meets the height requirment for most of the rides he would be interested in. I was just afraid that the signs would not be accurate at each attraction. I am not the type of parent that is going to put 3" heeled cowboy boots on my son for the sake of getting on a ride. I'm was not expecting such negative posts but respect them.

Don't take the response personally, Elizabeth. We have had questions about "cheating the system" from other parents who argued that "their child really, really wanted to ride, so they should be able to" - or other such nonsense.

The replys have been already written to that question.

Elisabeth,

What rides are you concerned about? The one ride I've heard people have the most problems with is Jumpin' Jellyfish. That ride has a 40" limit but tends to reject children under 42". If your son is already 42", he should be fine for rides with a 40" height minimum.

Well I did some checking and.........

HMMMMMM can I say insert foot in mouth. lol. I was thinking most of the attractions were 42" not 40" . Most meaning BTMRR and Splash. I suppose my memory isn't that sharp. Sorry to get ya'll rattled. Rightly so though. I read the other thread concering this and was appauled.

Well I guess I get a F in doing my homework on height restrictions!:p
