Any expert advice for touring USH? With Shrek open what is better to go to first? Terminator or Shrek? Also, did I hear that Jurassic is not as "soaking" as it used to be? Do you need a poncho anymore?

View Full Version : USH touring plan? DLDreamer 05-31-2003, 09:48 AM Any expert advice for touring USH? With Shrek open what is better to go to first? Terminator or Shrek? Also, did I hear that Jurassic is not as "soaking" as it used to be? Do you need a poncho anymore? duffman03 05-31-2003, 11:51 AM I think it depends on when you're going. My guess is Shrek will be the busiest cuz it's the first (good) thing they've opened up in years. eyespy11 06-01-2003, 02:08 PM If you can get there when the park opens you can see both of them within an hour. They are both located in the upper lot and that open first. This with minimal wait times. TheManator 06-01-2003, 03:08 PM Do the upper lot first. Shows and the tour. Do Waterworld then head to the downlot for Backdraft (not sure if that's still there, haven't gone since '99) disneyscott 06-02-2003, 10:31 AM There is a quick route that has worked for me but like I said quick, If you stop for the churro you will miss it. Thisworks for weekend. 10am Waterworld then run or walk fast to Spiderman Rocks at 10:30 am then right next door to Anamal Actor stage for the 11am show. Now you can take a breath. The 3-D shows are about evey 30 min so you can allways make time for that. If you do nothing else at the park make sure you do Waterworld, Backdraft, and the Backlot Tour. And remember the refills are 99 cents for the collecter cups, so this is one park that I dont bring my own soda CoasterMatt 06-07-2003, 12:57 PM If you want THE best route to see ALL of USH in one day, check this out... Get there for opening, then proceed to the Studio Tram tour FIRST (it will be one of the first things open). The tram tour is about 45 minutes long (if you want to experience the best views and tram motion, try sitting on the right hand side of car 3 - especially row 38). After the tram tour, head straight across the park, and down the Starway (it should be open or just about to open, it opens 1 hour AFTER the park opens). Head down and you can do everything on the lower lot with virtually no crowds. Make sure you don't miss out on "Lucy: A Tribute" - it's really a neat exhibit that shows not only what a great show I Love Lucy was, but how many innovations it brought to television. Jurassic Park: River Adventure is nowhere near as soaking as it used to be, but you can still get wet. Free lockers are available just inside the entrance of the queue line (get a token from the attendant). Backdraft - tip for this, stay to the left (back row) for the first two rooms, because this becomes the front row for the "main event" - the chemical warehouse fire scene. When you get to the third room, try to let people pass you, the best place to be is near the center of the room - use the "office" doors of the set as a good gauge. Special Effects Stages now has a cool behind the scenes section for "The Hulk", Universal's new movie based on the Marvel comic, only this Hulk is entirely CGI. After that, you can head back up the Starway, and do the rest of the park, working your way from the back to the front. Any other questions? Lemme know DLDreamer 06-08-2003, 06:29 AM Thanks, CoasterMatt. Everything else I hear says to do T-3D and Shrek then BTTF,etc. I never thought of doing it backwords. So you think that the lines for the upper lot will thin out in the late afternoon? eyespy11 06-08-2003, 10:51 AM I disagree with the backwards route. The upper lot does not thin out, it gets busier throughout the day, and since it is the last area to close, stays the busiest. I would get Shrek and T2:3D out of the way, if you really want to see those. Then go to the Studio Tour. On the way back from that stop by Back to the Future. Then head downstairs, do all those things and come up and plan the rest of your day around Waterworld, Spiderman and Animal Planet shows. Of course, on the actual day of your visit, you can grab a schedule go inside Guest Relations and have them assist you in planning your day. Or you could buy a Front of the Line Pass and not have to worry about lines at all and enjoy your day at your own pace. :) DLDreamer 06-09-2003, 05:34 AM This is the first I've heard about a front of the line pass. Sounds expensive. does it work better than DL Fastpass? eyespy11 06-09-2003, 01:46 PM A front of the Line pass is an all day pass that you purchase. You show it at the entrance of each attraction or show and they direct you to the Gate A area, where you receive priority boarding. I think it works better then fast pass, because you dont have to wait an hour or 2 to get the next one. You use it as you go from attraction to attraction. If you go on a weekend, it is highly recommended and they do sell out. If you go after June 19th, its summer and will help a great deal. If you go before then and during the week, you wont need it really. There is an online speical for $69/ adult and $59 child. It ends June 11th though. Prices at the gate will probably be $79. Keep in mind regular admission is $47. Hope this helps |
