So during the Star Tours preview, we got into the park at 8AM and lined up. We were positioned perfectly to see the Rope Drop from the side of the CMs. I have other pictures I shot, but here's the rope drop itself.
Pardon the black border creeping in. I use a de-shake filter because my camera is jittery, and the border is a result of the image trying to stay level and smooth. It's much better than the alternative.
The mad rush starts at about the 3 minute mark.

very cool post!! until i was there for my 1st rope drop i never would have thought that many people actually show up so early for park opening. it's pretty cool. i like how everyone runs even though there is no one in front of them lol. it's like...just walk...it's better than getting stampeded over!
Images like this are a great reminder that no matter how jaded we can get as frequent visitors, there are hundreds and even thousands of people who are so excited to visit Disneyland that they pack Main Street, U.S.A. right at park opening Every. Single. Day.
For 57 years.
It puts a lot in perspective, no?

I remember witnessing the rope drop at DL on the first full day "Finding Nemo" was open... When the rope dropped the entire crowd surged to the right toward Tomorrowland. We went left toward Frontierland and this is what we found in New Orleans Square:

That was the quickest we have ever gotten on Pirates and the Haunted Mansion...
