JoeInJpn 08-13-2001, 06:51 PM Nope....that's the only one. JoeInJpn http://www.jtcent.com Ralph Wiggum 08-13-2001, 07:01 PM Bust!! TokyoInsider 08-13-2001, 09:54 PM Actually, this brings up an interesting point about one of the perceived negatives of Tokyo DisneySea. Some people are best described as a 'hard-core riders'. For them, the choices at TDS are a little bit light in the roller-coaster thrills category. If you were to hit the park with the idea of getting every 'thrill' ride in and allowing some leeway for the word thrill extending beyond 'tracked' attractions, you would be going to Indy, Journey, Stormrider, and Flying Fish Coaster., which is actually a ride better suited for children. Those 'hard core riders' might be a little disappointed that there are not more 'thrilling' attractions, but as is the case for Disney, most people coming to Disney parks don't base their entire enjoyment of the day on whether or not the attractions are 'thrilling' enough. Those thrill seekers are better off going to Fujikyu Highland park (equivalent to Six Flags in Japan). Having said that though, apart from Stormrider and Indy, I haven't really heard anyone raving rabidly about the attractions at TDS like guests do at Tokyo Disneyland (about such rides as Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, or Big Thunder). And, as mentioned before in another thread, there are even bigger 'fun-factor' issues that affect attractions like Aquatopia. BUT (and this is a big 'but'), when added to the rest of what Tokyo DisneySea is- the wealth of detailing, the terrific shows, the fun places to explore, and the way you can interact with so much of the park, the attractions serve to compliment the park, rather than dominate the park as they do at Tokyo Disneyland. The best part of all is that if you want your thrill 'fix', then you can just head next door to Tokyo Disneyland! Having said that though, in very, very early park designs of Tokyo DisneySea, you can see a strange building drawn near to the SS Columbia in New York Harbor. Could it be a tower? Could it be a tower of terror? My money is on it coming up in the first expansion phase of Tokyo DisneySea. OLC is going for the kill. disneyhead 08-14-2001, 07:20 AM I think they will build a mediocre white rollercoaster with mouse ears on the loop. JoeInJpn 08-14-2001, 07:32 AM I agree with your views on the fact that Tokyo DisneySea is not a thrill ride park but a THEME PARK . Its ports contain beautifully designed themes and environments which feature not only ride attractions, but marvelous shows (Mystic Rhythms), fascinating exhibits (Fortress Exploration), and wonderful atmospheres (Venetian Gondolas area). There is so much to do at the park that I still have a big list of things I haven't done or seeing yet in the 5 days I have been there! (Though the real Hollywood has its place for a Sunday stroll, it isn't the immersion I'm looking for at a THEME PARK.) MORE PHOTOS! Personally, I have my ultimate coaster (Ghost Rider) already...it's the dreams that are in short supply. JoeInJpn 08-14-2001, 10:14 AM Thanks DoodleDuck! More photos are coming! TokyoInsider has been doing a great job with the updates. I am working on the 1st anniversary version (Sept 1st) of my site with a new design and all new photos for Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Hopefully they will be able to convey what us fortunate few have been able to experience here in Japan. Speaking of Ghost Rider, I rode it last September. It as amazing! Being a SoCal native, KBF still has a special place in my heart! JoeInJpn http://www.jtcent.com |
