I have this idea, maybe you (the Mods/Admins/Best People In The World) have talked about this already, but I think a "Polling Station" forum would be cool.
It would be a forum, just for polls. You could have conversations about what's in the polls. It would give some users, that want polls, a place to easily put them. Also, since you would only turn on the polls in this one forum, you wouldn't have to deal with the thousands (slightly exaggerated) of poll requests. :)
Thank you for your time. :)
Did I mention you are the best? :D
MonorailMan -- one of our guiding community policies here is to try to avoid popularity contests and "who's better than X" comparisons. Such contests inevitably end up with disparating comments about some party, and others end up feeling left out because they are not mentioned.
We ask that you respect our community policy by not asking for the creation of a forum that by its very existence, encourages this kind of popularity contest environment. [That is, your request is denied.]
Thanks.

Can't we take a poll to decide if we can have a polling station to make up polls about the things we want to poll about?

I'm not talking about polls about users, but about general stuff. Like a favorite ride, or a favorite flavor of donut. It would never be a "who's better than X" type thing, but a "what's your favorite Y" type thing.
However, I accept your decision. I just think my OP may have caused some confusion on my idea. :)

I always thought that MousePlanet and MousePad allowed discussing what people feel are the best and the worst. MousePlanet has recently run articles about the Best of the Web for Disney. By focusing on individual websites are not others being left out as well. MousePlanet has a review section which allows people to post the good and the bad about different resorts and dining locations. Even MousePad has threads asking "Which Pooh Ride is Better?" What I do not understand is that if the reason that polls are not allowed is to keep people from discussing the bad with the good then why is that not being moderated out of the general threads and articles as well?

The main problem with polls is that they are created for voting and not discussion...the whole reason for a discussion board. Also, if I were to post a poll about "What's your favorite ride" then list some rides, there's a 100% chance that someone will say, "But you didn't include X and X is my favorite ride."
What Lani was getting to (I'm guessing, since I don't speak for her) is that it is inevitable that polls will lead to popularity contests. There's nothing wrong with providing reviews for rides, movies, shows, TV, whatever. (We do draw the line with critiquing other websites though because that leads to uncomfortable and destructive board wars.) Even asking for opinions is fine too. But since opinions can often vary it's nearly impossible for a poll creator to capture all possible opinions for people to vote on. It's better to just ask and let people discuss it.
