Here is the quote from their Facebook...
To Our Fans.
First thanks to all the fans of the British Invasion for all their support over the years!!
It has been an honor to perform for you and Disney all these years!
We have given our notice to Disney Talent and Casting that we wouldn’t be playing after April 30th some time ago. We will be back to play at Disney from time to time and you will find those future dates posted on the British Invasion Facebook page!! Stay tuned for a british invasion fan appreciation party in May and details of our first concert appearance in downtown Orlando on May 14th.
Sincerely,
The British Invasion 2011
I am SO SAD! I loved, loved, loved them! I only took time to watch them for the first time a few years ago. They will be missed!

BOOOOO!!!! I was SO looking forward to spending an afternoon or two during my October trip bouncing back between the British Invasion and Off Kilter shows; maybe they'll come 'back' to Epcot during that time (fingers crossed)? :crying:

I can't tell if it is their doing or Disney's. I feel like Disney is taking away all the 'extras' that make Disney what it is and not a Six Flags!
Example:
-4 for a Dollar
-Chinese Acrobats
-British Invasion
What's next?!

I was sad enough about British Invasion (my 5 year-old is VERY into the Beatles and I was really looking forward to introducing her to that experience at EPCOT during our August trip). But the Chinese acrobats are leaving, too?!?!? Both my kids love that show and it is one of the things that keeps them happy in World Showcase while the adults "drink around the world." BOO!!!!

Regarding the Chinese acrobats - this is from the WDW Update this week (http://www.mouseplanet.com/9605/Walt_Disney_World_Resort_Update#Quick)
…A new Lion Dance troupe debuts at Epcot's China pavilion this week, while The British Invasion begins its last week at the United Kingdom pavilion. The Lion Dance troupe replaces the long-running Dragon Legend Acrobat troupe. We're hearing that another act will replace The British Invasion, but no details yet.
So hopefully the new China act appeals to your kids, mxrapu. And check out Kim Possible to keep the kids occupied during your adult adventures!

And something we frequent visitors need to remember is Disney is always looking for new things. And Epcot was never supposed to have the same things all the time. The entertainment is the core and if you have the same acts every single day of every single month of every single year, well, it's gets old. I am a big Off Kilter fan, have had the opportunity to speak with the band members, have their autographs, have the photos, etc. But I know one day they will leave. I don't know if it's going to be Disney's decision or the band's but it's going to happen. And who knows - I might like what happens next better. I might not and if that happens, I'll check out something else. I will always treasure the memories of the past entertainment but why not be positive about what is coming up next?

I am bummed too--have only seen part of one of their shows. Just saw Off Kilter for the first time (in four visits) earlier this month!

I don't want to take anything away from those who really loved the Invasion and are bummed at their leaving. But I tried many times over the years to get into them, and it just never worked for me. I think I have a problem with tribute bands in general - you have talent, but you're basing your entire career on someone else's music, look and success. For whatever reason, they've just never been my thing.
My groups in Epcot are Off Kilter (as long as the original lineup is all there) and of course the amazing Voices of Liberty!

Dan--I completely agree with you. I typically don't like tribute bands and I never paid much attention to British Invasion. But my 5-year-old would have gotten such a kick out of seeing them. It just figures when I am finally interested, they are leaving...
Cathy--Looks like the new China show could be good. I'll keep my fingers crossed. And you're right about Kim Possible, especially now that they are both old enough to participate (last time my youngest didn't really understand what we were doing).

Have to agree with you on this. I've tired for many years to put into words why I wasn't such a fan of the British Invasion but would stop by for other groups (and sit for hours with Off Kilter) but you nailed it perfectly.

True, but you can say that about many artists. Especially ones that are coming out today. A lot of artists don't write their own music. Those poor writers never get credit either. Well they do, but nobody says "Hey! That's John Smith's song!". They say the artists name.
Lady Gaga or Madonna? I can never tell who is who. They are so alike....

I hear you Kristin! How many Artists today really write their own music? Or play an instrument at least? Geez! Lady Goofy! LOL! Blah!
Some of my favorite bands I go see locally do cover songs...like Elvis, Johnny Cash, loads of songs/artists from the 50's era. It's great stuff! Even if it's not the original artist...it's still great to hear these songs live! :D
And to mention the Pink Floyd Project...they are also great!

That's true, Kristin. It even doesn't bother me if an artist will cover a song that someone else did, as long as they bring something of themselves to it. But a band like the Invasion goes way beyond this. They adopt the look and dress and sound and total image of another band, and that's what I have a hard time buying into.
