I usually go to DL in Oct but I think it IS getting more crowded since halloween. Whats the next best time to go when it may not be so crowded? Thanks for your opinion.

How long do you want to stay?

What days do you usually stay? Weekdays? Weekends? Which days of the week?

What rides are the most important to you? Will you be disappointed if any specific rides are down for refurbs or overlays?

January.

I've visited the resort 4 times or more per month for the last year and imo it's January, easily.

To expand a little on what Adrienne alluded to .... if you want to visit at a time when the parks operate fully but the crowds wane a bit, I have a theory about the second and third weeks of August.

With more school districts around the U.S. going to a non-traditional spread out calendar (a week break @ Thanksgiving, possibly 3 weeks @ Xmas, two weeks @ Spring break) and dismissing students for the year pre-Memorial Day, "Back to School" is now the first couple weeks of August most places around the country meaning the East Coasters and Midwesterners are generally gone from DLR.

Plus, two of the four annual passes are blocked out until about the 4th week of August creating a nice window for you to get in while the summer crowds head home and before the local crowds descend.

My school district remains on a traditional calendar so I was lucky enough to be there in August about every other day for the first three weeks. Relative to June and July, the early/mid August crowds were pleasant.

September is also fairly quiet and warmer than January (sometimes too warm). Early in the month, Space Mountain and Haunted Mountain are down for Halloween overlays and parades, Fantasmic! and fireworks may only show on weekends. -- Suzanne

I might try Jan next year. We like to go 4 days during the week. Oct was pretty busy in 2010 and I m starting to miss the original haunted house. Thanks

Well if you're looking at weekdays, you have a lot more options. If you want to make sure you're hitting the Haunted Mansion, you'll have to count on late January because it will go down to have the overlay removed in early January. February's not bad either but if you consider October busy, you'll probably want to avoid March through August. In September, HM would be down for the overlay installation.

We've been in November during the week and have had light crowds, but you'll have more Holiday overlays.

ThanksLike Adk said, it should be light, but Haunted Mansion would be down at least the first 2 weeks of Jan to remove the overlay. And the calendar will be up in the air until school districts decide their schedule, so it might be busy through the 6th of Jan. Once the schedule is out, the rest of the month, during the week will most likely be 10am-8pm. There won't be parades/fireworks/Fantasmic! during the week. Magic mornings should be very light on Tues and Thursdays though. You might check the previous Mouseplanet updates for those weeks to get an idea of what could be down those weeks.

DH and I always visit the 1st week/weekend of November. It's usually very quite during the weekdays. That beign said, last year didn't work out quite so well. But we didn't realize that alot of the schools were closing for a 3 or 4 day weekend. Still, we really enjoy that first week of November.
