I'm planning a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood and was just wondering if anybody knew of any good and low priced hotels near the area of Universal Studios. Were going for 2 nights in late June and trying to find a good hotel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well there is the Universal Hilton and Universal Sheraton. I wouldnt say they are cheap though. Located on the same hilltop. Then about 3 minutes away you have the howard Johnsons Beverly Garland. Its pretty nice there, down the street. My suggestion is the Sportsman Lodge. Its about 5 minutes away and they usually have some kind of Universal deal, a code word that gives you a better rate. Try calling Universal and talking to their Guest Relations people, they usually know what rate is going on and what to ask for.

The BeverlyGarland is owned by Holiday Inn now and is an excellent hotel and closer than the sportsmen's lodge.

Do not stay, however, at any of the motels around Universal City. These are mostly frequented by prostitutes and drug users.
