View Full Version : Rudeness on the Pad

I don't know where else to post this....

I have seen an increasing amount of rudeness lately from posters. It seems that any time something is said that others don't agree with the person is jumped on. I recently posted on the Survivor thread and people who watch Survivor were called idiots. The poster later apologized.

Most recently I posted on the thread about Pooh and the fact that it wasn't as good as it could have been. I felt a bit attacked. I was agreeing with the OP and even the OP said I was wrong.

I am getting fed up with voicing my OPINIONS only to be jumped on by those who disagree. I don't do that to anyone else, if I don't agree with a post I state why and try not to put the other opinion down...

Either I need to grow a thicker skin or stop posting... I would just hate for MP to get a reputation that only people who agree with DL need to post.

rant over, on with the regularly schedualed posting.

I've seen an increse also.....

I think it might be that this time of year can get very stressful for somepeople, and they need a way to "let out" that stress, and the board is the way to do it.

BTW: u r stoopid 4 postin such a stooopid message u sux.

I believe that some people view "anonymous" message boards as their way to show the world that they are "right". (Like it matters in this tiny, tiny world).

Although, putting up with rudness on the board is something that we shouldn't have to do, unless they violate MP rules, we are stuck. I guess we can feel sorry for these people, because, if they act this way in the real world, they won't be very successful - personally or professionally.

Please remember to use the "Report this post" link if you feel that a post falls outside our Community Policies. We try our best but can't always catch everything ourselves.

Andrew, always Mr. Answer Man! :D

Anyhow, things have been funky. I think that were no longer the "little board in the woods", anymore. :D

Thank you Andrew, but there are times where almost everything seems to fall into that category...

Since I am now being called a "whiner" it is time for me to bow out of the Pad for a while.

I am taking things too personally... time for hiatus.

Lani, I did not see this as rude, but if you do, I apologize to you only. The original poster started this thread based on things said in other threads. That poster did not have valid reasons, in my opinion, to say that people were getting rude. The poster did not post any specific points to prove their point. I will stop posting on this thread if the original poster holds true to their post that they are taking a hiatus. :)

You are not being ordered to stop posting to this thread, but instead to not post rude comments. I discourage you from making such conditional promises, and suggest that you either a) don't post rude comments, period, or b) just don't post to this thread at all.

Remember that this is a discussion board so you are bound to get some pretty opinionated people (myself included).

BUT -- that is NO excuse for calling people idiots or any number of other things that I have seen lately. Nor does it excuse whatever Thomas seems anxious to achieve by posting as he has. Still, I could be termed as guilty of that offense as a few of the others, so I'll keep it short (so as not to invoke the old saying, "the kettle calling the teapot black")

So stick it out Mouseygurl. You'll find that there some really interesting people here with a lot of diverse opinions. Admittedly, I disagree with about 90% of these opinions, possibly, including yours, but its still fun. We even have two or three PHD level Disney enthusiasts here to keep all our facts in check and some top notch moderators who usually will curb any off color remarks (as per our friend, Thomas)

See you around.

I.r.

Post Scriptum -- by the way, does anybody here want to explain to me exactly why the Kettle is conversing with the teapot?

One of the best questions of the day!

And, while I can dissagree with others, it in no way changes my opinion of said person. Our opinions are subjective, and are determined by our tastes, depending on the subject. This can be done without calling people names, but some people have shorter tempers. It takes all kinds to make the world, and I try to accept a person for who they are (and perhaps ask them to be nice), and if I can't handle what they are doing, I ignore them.

I like DCA. Am I an idiot? Perhaps, but my likeing DCA has nothing to do with that.

I still consider myself new to this group. I definately am outside of many of the inside jokes (I just figured out what Peeps were- what a relief). However, it might help to look at any post, like this one, with a comment that you find rude and count the number of "rude" people vs supportive funny people. For me, the posts are way ahead in the supportive funny people, so I try not to think about the rude ones much. I'd be sad to see anyone leave a site with friends because a couple of people are nasty to them. Nasty people you can't get away from, but friends and an occational laugh in the day are precious.

I don't think this is increasing or decreasing. It seems like its been fairly consistent in the two or so years I've been posting. You're always gonna have this to some degree.
