Hi moderators,
Have you all ever considered allowing avatars, provided they be Disney-themed. I noticed the function is disabled on the customizing page.

They were turned off because they took up too much bandwidth and put a major burden on the server, slowing things down to a crawl around here. Worse than the 405 freeway at rush hour (LA people know what I'm talkin' about).
They're not likely to be turned back on anytime soon. However, things might look hopeful when the newest version of vBulletin is released.
Is there a chance this same future edition of vBulletin may have a spell check? A sweet, sweet, precious, spell cheke?

I'm not privy to all the information of what's going to be available in v3 so someone else would have to answer that, but if you are an Internet Explorer user you might want to download ieSpell (http://www.iespell.com/). It's an awesome free spellchecker that works with any text you type in any input on any webpage. Just click the button and you've got spell check back. (Which I also need in a very bad way.)

Here's the answer from the FAQ (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7965) as well.

We were told the avatars were draining their resources and eating up too much bandwidth making it difficult for people to even log on to MP, so on March 5, 2002 avatars were disabled. The staff plan to enable them again (possibly for a small subscription fee) when the vBulletin 3 software update is released.
