I have tried looking on DL's website and I can't find info for when Star Tours is planning to reopen besides it saying in 2011. Does anyone know? Also, isn't the new Ariel ride in CA supposed to be open in 2011 also? Any info on either or both of these would be great. Thanks.

It was supposed to be May 20th for Star Tours but they might have changed that. As to Ariels I think they always said Spring 2011.

Nothing announced yet, May 20th has been confirmed for Orlando though.
Even though the 2 new rides are in different parks, it's a strong possibility that there will be a gap between openings to keep the crowds down.

OF COURSE it would be May 20th because we will be there May 8-10th. My 6year old son will be crushed because Star Tours is his favorite ride there.
Thank you so much for the information.

May 14-18 for us... maybe we catch a 'preview' showing?

When I was at Blue Sky Cellar looking at the model for Little Memaid, last Thursday, I asked a CM if they thought it would be open by the time we go May 19-22, but the cast member thought it probably open around the same time WoC did last year, which would make it middle of June.

I think it would be cool if they opened on May 25th.

I was actually thinking the same thing, but do they actually do that? I can still keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah, we missed WOC by a week or so last year also because we went at the end of May last year. I guess I need to start planning trips a couple of weeks later then I origionally think we should go : )

I was reading something on the Disney blog today and it said May 20th for WDW and June for DL :( guess I might need to change my dates if it's not early June

We missed it by about 3 weeks. We saw WoC for the first time last week. It was awesome! Have you gone back to see it?

No this will be our first time back since last May so we are looking forward to seeing WOC. I'm a little intimidated about when and where to go. I looked at the WOC thread on here, but I guess we'll just play it by ear when we are there. We are going to be a big group with 6 adults and 5 kids ages 6 and under so we'll see how it goes.

Just a note that today's DL update indicates that DL's Star Tours will not be re-opening until June . . . .

Booooooo! I will cross my fingers for a soft opening then because we'll be at the parks the weekend of the 20th (going to see Pirates 4 at the El Capitan).

WDW's Star Tours *has* to be open by the 20th because that's the start of their Star Tours weekends at the Studios. Disneyland doesn't have that same critical incentive.

Somewhat off topic, did you guys read that the Star Trader store is being relocated to the Starcade? I wonder how that is going to look. My poor DS has had to deal with Star Tours being closed all this time and now they take away his favorite store :(

Why do you say "take away" if they are simply relocating it?

I see an issue with it. The ride exits into the store. It is going to have a MAJOR increase in foot traffic, including the people who walk off the ride, into the first portion of the store and then STOP dead in their tracks to look at <name the fav toy>. I think this could well be a positive thing, but will depend on how they do it.

ETA - OK, it is a temp relocation...

From Mouseplanet "Disneyland's Star Traders store temporarily relocating to the Starcade February 14 through March 1 due to construction and refurbishment of the store."

Yes it's temporarily relocated for a refurb, but I said "take it away" just because my 6 yo won't understand it's temporary. He still doen't believe me that Star Tours is closed, we have to go over and show him, multiple times per trip :(
