View Full Version : OK, it's time to propose new Smilies!
It looks like we can safely remove a few of the older smilies, so it's time to nominate new ones.
If you have a smilie you would like to propose, please post it in this thread.
The rules:
1) You must own the rights to the smilie. It must be an original creation of yours, and you must be willing to grant MousePlanet, Inc the right to use the smilie on MousePad.
2) The smilie must not violate any copyrights - no "Mickey ears," no Disney logos, nothing like that. If you want to hide three white pixels somewhere and call it a hidden Mickey, more power to you, but no overt use of a registrered trademark, please.
3) Alex will veto anything that moves, so please nominate only static smilies.
4) Tony will refuse to upload anything that is larger than the current smilies, so please keep them the same size as the existing ones. (I think it's 15x15 pixels)
5) I will veto anything that "yammys." I read another board that has a moving "yammy" smilie, and it makes me want to "yammy" everytime I see it. Besides, isn't typing "yammy" half the fun anyway?
6) Lisa P will veto everything, unless she gets her http://members.aol.com/chorusforus/images/blank.gif smilie.
I think those are all of the rules. You have until Friday night to nominate new smilies. I will start a poll on Saturday to vote for the new submissions.

Gemini Cricket 05-07-2003, 06:07 PM I'm assuming we can suggest a smilie without drawing it, because computers are a mega mystery to me...
So here goes...
A smilie that's sticking out its tongue but the tongue actually looks like a tongue. Maybe the smilie should be 3/4 profile or something...
And that yammy smilie someone posted before. That would be cool. Oops, I forgot... :D
Also, different colored smilies would be nice. MP should be open to smilies of all colors, creeds etc. ;)
This one's my favorite - :cool: GC

As I just explained to you on the phone, I have No Clue what that smilie means. You defined it as an smilie to use when you have nothing to Say. Well, I seldom (never) have nothing to say, so, I have no need for that smilie. ;)
I want a LUV smilie. We could use :luv: :yammy: together and it would be so much fun!

Actually, I think it's pretty applicable here...

Not Afraid 05-07-2003, 06:49 PM I like this one - :p
DisneyFan25863 05-07-2003, 06:54 PM I call it....The Geek:

I know, I know, it stinks. But it is my first attempt at a home made smiley!
zapppop 05-07-2003, 07:18 PM Here's the " blank face " smilie I created which is already in use:http://members.aol.com/chorusforus/images/blank.gif
and the " sick " smilie: http://members.aol.com/chorusforus/images/sicky.gif
DisneyFan25863 05-07-2003, 07:21 PM Does anyone know the RGB numbers for the yellow background? I can't seem to figure them out

Red = 247
Green = 214
Blue = 0
DisneyFan25863 05-07-2003, 07:25 PM Thanks!
Cadaverous Pallor 05-08-2003, 05:23 PM I vote that smilies should all be yellow. I've seen boards with multi-color smilies and it gets garish really fast. Colored accents are cool though (like the red fez hat). I like the "sick" smilie but I would rather it was yellow.
I also like the "nothing to say" smilie....I would call it the "no comment" smilie. :)
I too would like the "stick out tongue" smilie to be altered to actually look like a tongue....remember this thread? (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2416)
HB Tigger Fan 05-08-2003, 06:36 PM I vote for all yellow. I also vote for the "no comment" smilie and the "stick out tounge" smilie to actually look like a tounge. The "sick" smilie is cute, however I agree half the fun is actually doing :yammy:.

I have no smilie to sell, just saying thank you to AVP!!!
Let the written "yammy" remain!!! Yammy, yammy, yammy!
:)
Sorry, what exactly is "yammy"?

You've been staying out of the lounge, haven't you? (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12299&highlight=yammy)

Thank you and goodnight.
Thanks for thehttp://members.aol.com/chorusforus/images/blank.gif suppport, Flub. You epitomize this smilie.
MammaSilva 05-08-2003, 11:01 PM I can't create it.. no skills here, but I'd like to see us have that green faced smiley for being sick....and I second GC's request for a stick out your tounge smiley that looks like a sticking out your tounge 'raspberry' style.

and the " sick " smilie: http://members.aol.com/chorusforus/images/sicky.gif Oooh, I second the green yammy guy!!!!! Me likes. Even a lighter, yellower shade of green would be fine.....the green gets the message across, but I agree that too many colors on the board is garish. But we NEED a yammy smilie. It's been requested by so many people!!!
AND I like the plain, "no comment" smilie. It says, "My Botox treatment went bonkers and I can't feel my eyebrows." It's one of my favorite yahoo ones.

These two both get my vote !!
I suggest the Green Smiley can be given the code :sick: so that anyone who gets :Yammy: thrills can still use that term without it placing a smiley there !
EandCDad 05-09-2003, 05:26 AM The blank smilie is in my regular rotation on IM. Its fun to have so I vote for it. It makes more sense to me than the fez, which just seems to have taken the place of the big smile.
mckat 05-09-2003, 06:58 AM Two things-- A big thanks to Alex for no moving smiles!!- I visited another disney site once and found all the animation so annoying I actually won't go there (you probably all know what I'm talking about). Second- confession time- I don't know how to insert any faces other then the obvious key board ones (:), :(, ;)) (I would insert a shamed face if I knew how). I still have training wheels on my paddle :(
Matterhorn Fan 05-09-2003, 08:29 AM No offense to the artist, but I don't like the green one.

mckat -- when you click on the Reply button and you see the blank text box to type in your message, take a look at the left of the box at the group of smilies (in the box labeled "Smilies"). Click on whichever one you want -- the smilies themselves are "buttons" that automatically insert the smilies into your text box! Note: They default to the bottom of your text. If you want it somewhere in the middle of your text after you've written out your post, you'll have to do a cut-and-paste job to get the stuff into the middle of your post.
