Fun or boring depends on what your interests are. There are people who don't enjoy watching animals. I happen to love them and so can, and do, spend hours just watching them. As for "hot spots", most people tend to recognize the killer whales because that's what Sea World mostly advertises, but there's lots more than that.

If you want more information, visit a site run by a friend: http://www.theswig.com. A few of us just recently returned from a visit to Sea World San Antonio, so those pages should be updated shortly.

I've only gone to SeaWorld in San Diego, and the only thing I hav to tell you is that is a little boring, but is also very interesting. I love the shows and everything. The only real atractions are Wild Artic and Pirates 4D, they really need something like Kraken.

San Diego has a new city order that states 'that at least 75 percent of Sea World's attractions be true to the park's theme of animal education and conservation'. There was an article in Sunday's (8/26) San Diego Union Tribune in regards to this.
I know that SW has been planning something big because they have been after the city to allow them to build beyond their height limit but I'm not sure what it is.
We were there this past week and we had a fine time - it's no Disneyland but I do enjoy seeing the animals.

P.S. the 'hot' spot would be Shamu stadium's soak zone

Provided what someone is interested in is roller coasters, in which case, I'm not sure what why they'd be looking for them at Sea World.

Has anyone else noticed that, besides the film itself, the Wild Arctic ride is Star Tours? Same pace, same going through something (comets and ice bergs), and same race (death star and ice berg). I know that's not exactly what you go through, but the last time I was there was in March. But it's the exact same ride layout! Anyone else catch that?

Well, yeah, it's the same kind of simulator technology, I would imagine.

But the payoff for Wild Arctic is much better...

I heard at www.screamscape.com that SeaWorld California is planning to add a Lighthouse Hotel or something. Check it out if you want to know more.

Hey I was wondering, why is it called Adventure Park if it's all watching and seeing.

Been to both Orlando and San Diego SW's and big differences are:

Orlando - Journey to Atlantis boat ride (cross between Splash Mountain and Matterhorn) and Kraken (mega-coaster thrills)

San Diego - Shipwreck Rapids whitewater raft ride (pretty standard raft ride)

For gradeshool kids, best attraction is "backstage tours" where they take small groups of guests backstage to see and touch animals - we did the "arctic" tour where you a see a polar bear up close and touch real penguins. Extra charge ($7-$8) is well worth it to see guts of facilities and find out how animals are cared for as well as getting chance to see them up close.

Actually, there are more differences than that. Orlando's sea lion habitat (it's much more than just an exhibit) is awesome and huge and amazing - I could have spent hours just at that location. Unfortunately, our San Diego park only has the sea lions in a small enclosure - they need more space!

Orlando has a very cool sit-down restaurant. San Diego used to have one, but they unfortunately closed it down. Grrrr.

San Diego's polar bear enclosure in Wild Arctic is bigger than Orlando's. The structure of Orlando's also makes it almost impossible to take any flash pictures. Orlando's bear den is also totally enclosed while San Diego's is open to the elements.

One thing I did not like about Orlando's is the lagoon in the middle, so it takes that much more time and mileage to get around the park. Shamu Stadium (or whatever Orlando calls their killer whale stadium if not that) and Wild Arctic are buried in the back, on the other side of the lagoon. Since San Diego's lagoon is part of Mission Bay and off to one side, it doesn't get in the way if you're not interested in their offerings.
