Previously, on MousePad:

Cemeinke, acting for the FezBowlLaw tribe, proposed a new smilie. Mammasilva, NotAfraid, HB Tigger Fan, innerSpaceman, DisneyFan25863, and MonorailMan voted yes. The other 3887 members abstained, so the motion passed.

In a surprise tribal council move, Andrew cast the deciding vote, and :o was booted to make room for the Fez Head.

Now LisaP and Bill Catherall of the Moderator tribe have proposed new smilies. But to make room, some of the less popular symbols must go. 15 smilies remain. Who will be voted off tonight?

Note: I edited AVP's poll. In the poll it said, "Evil Grin" and "Big Grin" but the description in her post said, "Evil Smile" and "Evil Grin."

Since no votes had been cast yet, this should not affect the outcome of the poll.

I don't know. Bill and Lisa have presented quite a few ideas, but none have been decided upon. We're trying to get a sense of how many of the existing smilies could be removed without anyone caring too much.

But, for the record (and at the risk of sounding like Alex), I don't think we need any new smilies, especially if there's a chance they'd be animated, weird sizes, or garishly colored--there's message boards I don't read cause of those stupid (and usually meaningless) things. But I don't see that option on the poll.

I'm tempted to use a smilie here, but in the spirit of my vote of "I hate all smilies; you could turn them off and I wouldn't miss them at all," I think I probably ought to abstain from using smilies in this thread.

OK~back on track, I'm gonna go vote now. I'm voting to get rid of the fezhead (oh, wait, that *confession* is enough to get me kicked out of the MP community isn't it?!). :eek: ;)

I wouldn't give any smilie the boot until we looked at the FULL roster, including those that are currently in the running to be added. Otherwise, this ballot assumes that any of the newer nominees are more appealing than the ones we already have.

PS: I've added the actual icons to the ballot so it's easier to see what you're voting for.

Am I totally missing the reason we can't have over 15 smilies? I run a much larger vBulletin board than this and we have over 200 smilies :)

I mean, there may be a reason you guys don't want that pop-up box for more smilies but I know you can modify vBulletin (and it is well within their license) to show 18 or 21 smilies by default instead of only the first 15.

I think :p should be modified. It doesn't look like a tongue. It just looks like the smilie is whistling or doing a dopey smile...

Perhaps in the spirit of the intention, the :Yammy: smiley could be a picture of a parrot in a cage, or something equally as abstract. This would then provide just as much fun from newbies who would ask: "What's the parrot mean?" :fez: (Fez used cos :~D needs Wite-O-Dent)
