Maybe this could be a great opportunity for Imagineers to change this show back to the original format. I, for one, would not be sorry to bid adieu to Iago and Zazu...

I had troubles with the link Mary posted (might be my computer, though) - but did get to it with this link:

Doesn't sound like it was bad enough to do enough damage to reimagineer the attraction.
And it'd be like new again to all the WDW-visitors that never visit DL!

Some of the tweets I saw about this were pretty funny. Most were along the lines of hoping it would get a complete redo as a result.

Was this fire started by someone who didn't like the new show? ;)

"The Gods have been angered by all the celebrating!"
Is this a sign that maintenance is not what it should be?

Hmm. If so, I wonder if Stitch's Great Escape would be next...?

maybe it can become a new quick-service restaurant specializing in grilled birds?

I can't believe they STILL have that horrible version of the Tiki Room at WDW! I saw the post title and was hoping the same thing the others were - maybe it's time for a "re-imagining"??
At least we still have the REAL one at home in Dl.

Obviously the Tiki Gods have been so angered by the new "Management" that they have decided to seek retribution.
My understanding is Iago was destroyed, Zazu had serious damage and the center section, which comes down from the ceiling, has had a lot of water damage from the sprinkler system.
Since they will have a lot of work to do, and will probably, at this time, want to upgrade all the lighting to LEDs, maybe they will put it back to the original.

Heard a New Rumor today on another site that the "Under New Management" show will not be returning. Curious if they are going back to the Classic Tiki Room.

Be still my heart! I might return to the Tiki Room at WDW after all!

Oh Please let this be true! we saw under new management once, to say we were solely disappointed was a understatement especially when we'd been seeing the tiki room at DL for that past couple years. Please bring back the classic tiki room at WDW, the way Walt intended it to be!

You know since I have been going since 1977 I never saw the original version and have only seen the Under New Management version. Don't really know why we never tried it. So I can't compare.

I'll throw in a vote, but not for the original show. My vote is for the shortened version of the original show. As I understand it, part of the reason for the "under new management" version was that people regularly walked out of the orignal due to its length.

Actually, time for a totally new show. I love the original Tiki Room, but let's go forward, not backward; maybe something even better is in the mind of some great imagineer just waiting for an opportunity to reveal itself.

I'm all for that in theory, pete. But I just don't see how they could possibly have had a totally new version ready to go on such short notice. About they only thing they can do is put in the DL show. And while I appreciate that show for what it was and what it meant to the Disney company, I'm not that wild about it going in in the MK. I'm one of the few people who actually didn't think the Under New Management show was all that bad.

Count me as part of the few. I didn't think it was horrible, and it's something I wouldn't mind seeing again, every once in a while.

I agree. It wasn't that bad. Now, Stitch's Great Escape owes me 10 minutes of my life back.

I live in Arizona, so the original tiki room is readily available to me. I like it, and I haven't seen anybody walk out, though admittedly I haven't been watching for that. I like the new management if only for the new energy. There's my 2 cents.
