From what I have observed of the Disney company of late, it seems to be Roy E. Disney who is the company's conscience. He is the only relative of Walt in the company, he supposedly nurtured the Feature Animation revival. In the post-Walt era (which, for sake of argument, is December 1966-September 1984), he was written off as "the idiot nephew" by the Walt men running the studio. There are rumors that he was an alcoholic, and he resigned in 1977 citing the general decline in quality.
