All the pictures I see of Tokyo's Tomorrowland look like the old 1967 version of DL's. Any Plans to remodel and bring it more up-to-date?

Any Plans to remodel and bring it more up-to-date? If that's true, I hope not! Think about how Disneyland's Tomorrowland has "improved" since 1967... TokyoInsider 08-06-2001, 05:37 PM As I hear it, all plans to significantly update Tomorrowland are on hold until after the success of Tokyo DisneySea can be determined. After all, that is a 3.5 billion dollar project next door, and there is significant risk for OLC to extend it's spending any further. Having said that though, you are right, Tokyo Disneyland Tomorrowland is practically Yesterland (Yes it is clean and well maintained, but veeeerry dated). Tomorrowland Terrace is almost comical in how 'mid 80's' it appears, Starcade is basically a museum of video games from the late 80's-90's (but not in a good way- it comes off as REALLY pathetic and sorely lacking in fun-factor when compared to the Starcade at Disneyland Anaheim), and there is tremendous amounts of dead space (Steller Sweets, anyone?) On the other hand, MicroAdventure still packs them in (more or less), and of course Space Mountain doesn't disappoint. Star Tours though is seemingly always empty, and you can basically just walk on this attraction at any time. Also, Meet The World is technically in Tomorrowland, and while I harbor no ill feelings towards it (and even kind of admire the show in a nostalgic 'Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln' kind of way), others would love to see it disappear. REALLY love to see it disappear. Meet The World is a kind of in-joke among cast members about the 'sorry' state of Tomorrowland. I have heard several rumors of what might be put there, and those ideas sound great, but of course nothing official. I have a feeling though that Tomorrowland might be the first area in TDL that will receive a significant upgrade post Tokyo DisneySea opening. Believe me, the suits in OLC and Disney are very aware of the problems of the Tomorrowland of today. Lacrosse Boy 09-03-2001, 08:00 AM I hope they get what Disneyland was supposed to get! Kuzcotopia 09-03-2001, 08:44 AM What's amazing is that Tomorrowland is so lame, and it's in Tokyo. TOKYO IS TOMMORROWLAND when compared to us! They have REAL monorails and bullet-trains as daily transportation! Robots demonstrate the hand signals at the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Tokyo is a city of Blade Runner streets, where microchips are sold by pushcart vendors in Akihabara and vending machines outnumber the human population. I'm both bewildered to think of how Tomorrowland got so far behind AND trying to think of how Disneyland can top the real thing! spacemountainranger 09-03-2001, 05:28 PM this could be a good update it could be like Wdws TL |
