View Full Version : Best Character Meal?
Busy3Boys 04-18-2003, 10:34 PM Ok - we are set to go and have our meal plan tickets which include a character breakfast, and a character lunch. Now I just need to know where is the best place to go for each?
We have 3 boys, ages 6, 3, and 19 months. We went 2 years ago to the Plaza Inn for breakfast, but only the Pooh characters were there.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!:D
MammaSilva 04-18-2003, 10:37 PM I would say Goofys for lunch since I don't know anything about the character meal over at DCA ... I'd stick with the plaza for breakfast... the wait in the line for the pooh meet & greet is always LONG
We had a terrific time at Ariel's Grotto last year, for dinner. We were with a very high-energy group of people, and that made a difference. They do a conga-line dance through the restaurant. There was plenty of time with characters, and you can't beat that view of Paradise Pier.
We love Goofy's Kitchen, always have.
The breakfast at Plaza Inn was very nice as well, but there is a bit more chaos there due to theconfiguration of the buffeteria and constricted access to the tables. It was worth it, just a bit more difficult with wiggly children who needed extra help.
mickhyperion 04-19-2003, 08:05 PM I would say either Chip or Dale. They're so juicy!
Busy3Boys 04-19-2003, 09:03 PM I could NEVER! I will turn vegetarian first!
Hee hee!
Soooo....do you have a suggestion??
Thanks for the laugh!
mickhyperion 04-19-2003, 09:39 PM I've also heard from a reliable source that Captain Hook is delicious. :)
Actually, I've been to two Character Meals. Breakfast with Minnie at the Paradise Pier Hotel and another in WDW. Both had plenty of characters to meet and very good food. The Minnie breakfast is a buffet with a great variety of food, custom omelets made before your eyes, and an endless supply of orange juice brought to the table! The characters with Minnie included Goofy's son, Pluto, and a couple of others I don't recall. They probably change though. The Character Meals are a good deal as you get table-service quality food and about as much character interaction as you can stand while you have a mouth full of food and greasy fingers. :)
ESS Heckler 04-22-2003, 05:03 PM If your kids were disapointed with Plaza Inn, avoid the Storytellers cafe breakfast at the Grand Californian. Just Chip and Dale there.
Best bet in my opinion, Goofy's Kitchen. Goofy's seems to have the biggest variety and sheer quantity of characters.
dsnylndmom 04-22-2003, 06:48 PM My boys aged 4 and 8 both LOVED Goofy's Kitchen and Ariel's Grotto! We were there just over a week ago and did Ariel's for the first time and had such a blast plus the food was great and my 4 year old loved his sand bucket kid's meal! LOL
We will defintely do Ariel's next time, oh and we LOVED Goofy's too~
Busy3Boys 04-22-2003, 07:00 PM Sand bucket kids meal?? Is there a picture of that somewhere? Who were the characters at Ariel's?
We have never been to DCA - so all this will be new to us!!
Thanks for info!
:D
dsnylndmom 04-22-2003, 07:36 PM The kid's meals came in bright colored plastic sand buckets with a shovel(just a cheapy one but it was enough to excite my kids! LOL)and the characters were Goofy, Minnie and Chip and Dale dressed in sailor garb. They were GREAT~! They came to the table a ton of times, we were outside right on the water it was soooo nice, and the characters played with the kids and adults and the kids liked the conga line too! Ariel is there right when you come down the stairs, but she's not mobile. The kids can take pictures and stuff with her though.
And the food is sooooo good! I had a wonderful Bay Shrimp Cobb Salad with french onion soup and it was delish! My little brother and SIL both had the fish and chips and they were soooooo good!

this link has good pictures and the menu! Check it out it was great!
QueenofHearts 04-22-2003, 07:37 PM Can someone give me an idea of what these cost?
We got coupons in our package (which I am using for Goofy's on our last day for lunch), but I've thought about Ariels for lunch one day and Plaza Inn for b'fast. Also, what are the hours for Plaza Inn (don't want to miss the morning prime ride time)?
Thanks!
