I generally enjoy reading the informative columns on MousePlanet, but the April 18 Scoping the Parks writeup was a waste of an update. For the columnist to create this elaborate story about how he was stuck in the park overnight then at the end to say none of it was true was kind of a stab in the back to your regular readers. If you didn't have an update prepared for today it may have been best to do no update rather than create a completely false story.
Other than that, keep up the great work!

I enjoyed the column but if your in the mood for a good joke tell the people that Al is back, that spell check works, that you can use avatars, or the story should of been from Disneyland and not from Disneyworld
your damed when you do and your damed when you don't
Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed this story

I'm definitely not trying to belittle any of the other updates. It's just a matter of are you an information site or a fictional story site? I've always found MousePlanet to be a great informative site - excellent updates, excellent forum, great posters like yourself, etc. I'm hoping that it doesn't degrade into a fictional story site - April Fools day aside. Some of us are quite busy and to read through an entire article only to read at the end that none of it is true is a waste of time. Just my 2 cents, of course and all of it submitted very respectfully...

Kind of felt like a waste of time to me too. If I had known it was story from the start, that'd be different, but it kind of felt like hey I wasted your time with this... :(

I scanned the article after reading the original post on this thread, and the closing makes the article sound like it was something that was written for April 1st but for whatever reason, didn't run then. I agree that mid-April seems inappropriate for an April Fool's joke, the "it's still April" comment notwithstanding. It probably would have been a more interesting read if it had been presented up front that it was speculation instead of finding out at the end that the whole situation was a fabrication.
jtracy - Did you send an email to the author with your comments? I'm not sure he reads the boards so wouldn't necessary see this thread. I'd be interested to see if he has a response.

jtracy - In case you didn't see it, just wanted to let you know that there's a section in today's mailbag column with feedback about the article.

Thanks CS. I agree with the person who wrote that the article was a waste of time but he still enjoys all the other stuff written for "Scoping the Parks". I just hope that MousePlanet does a better job at leaving April Fools jokes for April Fools day and continue with the great informative nature of the rest of their articles.
Thanks again for the heads up.

I believe that story was originally part of a long -- and I mean LONG -- trip report. In the context of the trip report, it really worked -- because it was so skillfully woven into the fabric of the overall report.
A part of me said, you know, "Why, I oughta ..."
but then you had to say also, all right, good one, Mike.
