In answering a question, Chris Colfer inadvertently gave away a spoiler about an upcoming development. ***************
I can post in spoiler tags if anyone wants to know.

PaleyFest panel was fun tonight. Most of the main actors were there, except for Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Jayma Mays and Jessyln who's last name I forget but she plays Teri. Oh, and Chord wasn't there either.
I'm still a newbie so I had to translate this paragraph...
Rachel (Lea Michele I know by name,) Quinn, Emma and Teri, Will's wife. And Sam the blonde with the Beiber do.
No Rachel or Quinn? WHATever. That's a relatively short "no show" list considering how big the cast is.
Was Lauren Potter/Becky there?
And yes, I vote for spoilers.

No Lauren Potter. The woman who plays Lauren, Puck's girl, was brought up in conversation by the panel. I didn't expect her to be there, but someone on the panel said she was working on something else and unavailable. Other work was also the reason for Rachel, Quinn, Emma and Teri's absence as well. Rachel/Lea Michele was absent from last year's panel as well. Everyone else, including the other 3 absent last night, were there last year.
OK, Chris Colfer's inadvertent spoiler:
He was talking about working with the new Dalton Academy people versus working with the regular New Directions people, and he said he missed his friends but he's really enjoyed making new friends as well. He said he was going to miss them since he's coming back. The moderator tried to go on with the next topic. I turned to the friend sitting next to me and said, "Did Chris just give away a spoiler?" It seems everyone else was doing the same thing because you could hear the rumbling in the audience swelling. And then the entire panel, including Ryan Murphy, were just staring at Chris. It was pretty funny.
Ryan Murphy then went on later to say that there was going to be a prom episode and the Dalton Warblers might be singing at the prom. He also said that next year, Blaine might just be auditioning for New Directions.
Spoiler about the album they're doing a show around:
Ryan Murphy said that they wanted to do a tribute not just to an artist but a specific album. He and a few of the other execs really like Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" album, and he said given how various characters are getting together and breaking up, it was just like the situation when "Rumours" was being made, so he thought it was appropriate. He said they already had a relationship with Stevie Nicks because of "Landslide", so they talked to her, and they also talked to Lindsey Buckingham, and they secured the rights to use that entire album pretty quickly.
Spoilers about other actors making an appearance on the show:
Charice is going to be in some of the remaining 6 episodes this season since they'll be focussing on Nationals, and she's with Vocal Adrenaline. Gwyneth Paltrow is coming back, but that was already shown in the "coming soon" previews after this week's episode. Kristin Chenowith (I know I'm spelling her name wrong) is coming back, though I don't know if that's this year or next year. Her character will have just come off an unsuccessful attempt to launch an all-white version of "The Wiz". I think they said they're writing an original song for her called "It's 10am and I'm drunk".
Oh, more about Kurt:
I'm not sure how they're doing it, but they're going to be revisiting the bullying story once he returns to McKinley.
And about Santana:
Ryan Murphy said they haven't decided yet where to take Santana, whether she'll end up with Brittany or not. Brittany figures into the picture, but they want to focus more about what realizing she's a lesbian means to Santana. Personally, I didn't think of Santana as a lesbian even after she admitted to loving Brittany. She might be bi-sexual, but she's really had zero relationship with/feelings for anyone. She's just been sexual. She happens to love Brittany, but I don't think it's necessarily because she's lesbian - it's just about Brittany. I was hoping they'd explore that more, that it's not about labeling, just about who you love.
OK, that's what I'm remembering right now. Maybe someone else who was there might remember something I forgot.

The Ahmanson Theatre in LA recently announced their new season and one of the shows we'll be seeing is a "new", or revival, production of "Funny Girl"! Does anyone in particular come to mind, for playing the young Fannie Brice, when you hear that they're going to be redoing the musical that introduced the amazing Barbra Streisand to the world??
They said it's rumored LM is in it, but they've just started the audition process at this point, so they won't be announcing anything yet. Maybe that's why she wasn't at PaleyFest?
Some of the other shows in the season aren't exciting to me - the premiere of the new CHEERLEADER musical, "Bring it On", based on the movie of the same name, "American Idiot", "Fela!" and "War Horse".
Stay tuned! I'll update you with "Funny Girl" info as it comes in!

Lea wasn't there last night because she's filming a movie in New York, "New Year's Eve" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598822/) from the looks of it.

Yeah.... I've also heard that Lea Michele is a not very kind person in real life to the "normal people." So I'm sure not having her on the panel might have had something to do with that (aka she chose not to be there). I've been to other Glee events (album signings and the like) where cast was present, but she's never been to a single one.
Work might have just been the easiest excuse to get herself out of going.

The Paley Center has posted a compilation video (almost 9 minutes) of the panel from last night. Chris' spoiler segment is at the very beginning, and it's totally worth watching the whole thing. Watching it brought back fun memories and stories I'd forgotten. Matt's (Will) story about his tango with Gwyneth Paltrow is hysterical.

Sorry for posting again - I meant to say this in my other post and forgot.
The PaleyFest panels are held in the Saban Theatre, which also happens to be the same theatre where Regionals (last year and in this week's episode) are held, which is pretty cool, and made it even cooler to watch this past week's episode in that very theatre last night. That will also make one of Cory's (Finn's) comments in the video make more sense.

I actually didn't mind the nun. But Kathy Griffin mixed up her stereotypes badly. If you're going to mock people, do a little more homework about the people you're mocking, or at least who you THINK you're mocking, thankyouverymuch. When she crossed herself, I went off a little bit...You should probably blame the writers for that.

I thought about that but having seen her act before and the way she did it, it just smacked to me like one of those things that she improved because she thought it was funny.

This week's episode was my all-time favorite. It had the laughs, great songs, and meaningful storylines. Glee always has at least one of those three, but it's (unfortunately) rare that all three happen in the same episode. Then again, I'm also biased as my personal attachment to the Blaine/Kurt storyline borders on ridiculous.
I read a spoiler of my own today! From a write-up they linked to on Glee's Twitter:
Blaine and Kurt will be attending prom together! I'm going to assume it's at McKinley, since Kurt seems to make the switch back sooner rather than later in these upcoming episodes.

I don't think this is a spoiler situation, since it doesn't directly address the plot. Isn't it strange that when a bunch of high schoolers perform, nobody shows up to watch them? Not even their parents? One person convinced her entire church choir to show up as back up, on short notice, but nobody else from the church showed up, not even family members of the choir? Oh, and is the phone call one character received the sort of call one would typically get on a Saturday night? Weird.

I thought last night's episode was really lackluster. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it, I just kinda didn't care. The interaction between Lauren and Mercedes had a lot of potential, but I thought their story ended up being kinda dumb. I didn't connect to any of the songs, and while I really like "All By Myself", I didn't care for Charice's take on it. I liked the interaction between Will and Emma (and Holly's comments about it), but that was about it. We normally keep all the episodes until the DVD comes out. The husband accidentally erased last night's after we watched it. I didn't care.

I thought the beginning was better than the end. But it had some moments that amused me.

I haven't liked the shows as much this season. More and more of them have contained things I consider to be not appropriate for kids to be watching and things they've been hitting us over the head with. The line Stephen Tobolowsky had about being, a "preditory" gay guy was ridiculous. These people obviously should not be in charge of children and are definitely not mentors, or someone sane parents would want their child to emulate. Even the students are inappropriate. While some people might find these things to be humorous, I don't. While we as adults can see they're trying to be funny or satirical, I don't think most kids watching it would get that message and would think it would be something they'd like to copy.
I was surprised to see that the song Charice did last night, "All by Myself" was almost exactly the same arrangement as what I remembered was done by Celine, years ago. I googled it, just to make sure and here it is. Just try to ignore the really awkward bad acting/pantomime being done by CD in it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naPgrhX6rIk
I was also very surprised that no family showed for the kids, but then that was in the script, so we can't expect them to make things like reality. For the most part, except for Kurt's dad and Finn's mom, we either haven't seen the parents or they're not portrayed by loving, supportive people, like Quinn's parents kicking her out of the house.
I'd like it to be more about the music and less about the other stuff.

Every indication is that Mercedes has a "traditional" family life, but, for example, in the episode when she brought Kurt to her church, one would think her family would have been there, and she would have seated him with them. They are friends, and Kurt probably would have been introduced to her parents. It is a little troubling that the kids are often "home alone" and seem to have all the privacy they want or need, for sexual encounters, and even if that was not the apparent intent of the visit, there sure is a lot of visiting going on in bedrooms. But maybe that is realistic these days. At least with the whole story line with Quinn and Puck there were consequences to their actions, and Quinn dealt with it in a manner consistent with her upbringing. Do you ever watch the show that comes after Glee, "Raising Hope"? In a lot of ways the family demonstrate "real" traditional values. The parents have been together since they were teenagers, and admitted in one episode that neither has had any other sexual partner.

I actually thought the preditory gay line was hilarious.
I don't generally let my kids watch Glee because I agree that much of it is not appropriate for children my sons' ages. I did think that there was more in this episode that I didn't mind than in others this season. I've definitely had issues with some of the episodes this season.
I agree that there are parts of the show that I think are not realistic at all but then it's totally fiction and one of the things I appreciate about Glee is that it can be absolutely absurd (Sue taking the fundraising money and putting it in an off-shore account? And not being FIRED over it???) but at the same time there are parts that can be absolutely heartwarming and divine (Kurt's father giving him "the talk" or Mercedes taking Kurt to church -- of course, I LOVED that entire episode more than I can begin to say.)

Not regarding this particular comment, but at the "Glee" panel at PaleyFest this year, Jane Lynch said she gets a lot of teachers who come up to her and tell her they wish they could say/do some of what Sue does, and that they appreciate being able to live vicariously through her. :)

I've never thought of Glee as a show designed for young kids. I would, however, rather have them see that than "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" which I don't watch but which seems to have a new pregnant teenager on it every time I channel flip through it.

I just started watching Glee due to someone at my job talking about it all the time. I find it pretty entertaining. I didn't quite care for last night's episode though. I really didn't like Gwyneth Paltrow's version of Turning Tables. I love Adele and the version on Glee should have been sang by someone else.
