I actively despite Rocky Horror. But I'm a masochist so I'll probably end up watching it just so I can tell people how much I hate Rocky Horror.

Finally saw the last half of last night's Glee. I really loved the Rachel/Kurt duet.

OT, but I saw the social network the other day, and laughed at the scene at the "Jewish fraternity," when the boys all wanted to date the Asian girls hanging out there, because they are "pretty, smart, and not Jewish." I thought of my daughters, and several other Asian kids I know, adopted by Jewish families, and thought "don't bet on it."

Never mind. I was wrong :(

Okay, finally caught up! I agree, this week's episode finally is up to par with last season. I missed the second half of the first episode, and it got deleted, so I missed what happened with Sunshine, and the intro of Carl. I am not familiar with Britney Spears, so I couldn't say much about that episode, but I enjoyed Brittany's lines! Last week's show was emotional, but also seemed kind of disjointed. But I enjoyed this week's very much. Although I missed what was offensive about Rachel and Finn's song, because Rachel was dressed pretty much the way she always is! I was just wondering why Finn was wearing a priest collar! All the duets were good, and I agree that Rachel and Kurt's at the end was really good!

Yeah, better. Good to just say "hey, we don't need no stinking story" and do a 60 minute variety show. Two minute of exposition and then a musical number. Minimal fantasy staging (primarily just the Victor/Victoria number).

Plus the random swings in characterization that have been consistent throughout the show.

Just watched this week's episode last night. I thought it was good, but I'll admit, it just isn't the same without Sue Sylvester.

Puck is coming back I read either the 2nd or the 9th. He is off touring with his own band.

This was not my favorite episode but man did I love that duo "River Deep Mountain Wide!' Those ladies can sing. :)

Took a break from studying long enough to watch this week's episode yesterday with DW. We both thought it was the best of the season. The numbers were great and tied into everything going on.

Our favorite number of the show was actually Tina and Mike doing Sing! though I also enjoyed Kurt doing Le Jazz Hot.

I do have to say that if they continue with some of the story lines and way they are depicting certain scenes they might have to push their air time back an hour or so.

Hopefully they keep their groove and keep going in this direction. Looking forward to te Rocky Horror episode but only if it makes sense, which I think it might since it looks as though the context is the school play.

One critique so far this season, they are focusing so much on wacky storylines and making existing storylines REALLY wacky that we are missing some great subplots and characters (where are Emma and Sue?)

Cool Runnings all!

I agree and I was wondering the same thing.

Spoilers because it's not quite over on Western time.

If you have been missing Emma (and she's one of my favorites), you shouldn't be disappointed with tonight's episode!

Ok, just saw the Rocky Horror version and ...um...not sure what to say. Frankie as a GIRL??? (I have no problem with girls playing Frankie..says the Former Frank-N-Furter...but Frank is a GUY!!! That's why the whole Sweet Transvestite thing is the major plot point.) They also censored "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me" (sp) Well, at least they kept in the pelvic thrust during Time Warp.

You could tell that some of the cast had studied the film as the inflections and movements were absolutely perfect!

So basically, some of it I loved and other parts I wasn't too sure about. Yeah, I'm a former Floor Show Cast Member and know the show like the back of my hand so maybe I was expecting a bit more. It was a close but no cigar moment for me.

(Oh with all the censoring and changing of things, I was surprised to see that they had the "giant weenie" piece of equipment that Frank "rides" during "In Just 7 Days" in the background. Good job of getting it past the censors. Bravo to the prop department for that little bit of authenticity.

Will probably watch it again... just cause I'm needing a Rocky Horror fix now and can't find my DVD.

Also realized they REALLY censored "Sweet Transvestite" Now I'm wondering why they tried to do it. Don't think the Rocky Horror fans are going to be real happy.

Even though I've only seen the movie once, I enjoyed the show tonight. They all seemed to be having a great time with it. I loved that they gave Jayma that number - she really rocked it, and it let you see a different side of her, which made sense too with the whole thing about her forgetting to cut the crust off the bread and such. John Stamos' number was pretty cool too.

The husband is a big RHPS fan, and he really liked the show.

Over the weekend, my daughter asked if she could watch our copy of Rocky Horror, to prepare for the Glee episode. She was worried about it because it has an "R" rating, and, ordinarily, we would never let her watch a movie with that rating. I thought about it, and, while it is very suggestive of some really kinky stuff, it is not at all graphic. In fact, the kids see much more graphic sex and violence on a lot of prime time shows, and we don't even watch many crime dramas. I did watch some sections with her, to gently, explain what was happening. She just thought it was weird, and wasn't even bothered by the Eddie scenes; fortunately the dinner table scene is really fake looking. We enjoyed the Glee version, overall, although I did not think it was necessary to change the lyrics in Toucha-Toucha-Touch me, because the lyrics they actually changed were not that bad. Sam made a much more graphic reference to his own body coverage by his Rocky Horror costume. It was cute that Finn had no idea what the movie was about-he should have asked his parents, who may have been fans when they were his age. I also enjoyed explaining to the kids that, yes, the guys who played Brad and Eddie really are that old now-the movie was made 35 years ago! Do many theatres even show Rocky Horror anymore? I saw it quite a few times in the late 70's, when I was in college, but haven't seen anything for showings, and there are lots of universities in my area.

There are a few theatres in the L.A. area that still do Friday or Saturday night midnight screenings of the movie.

Having never seen the original, although I went and watched Time Warp on YouTube after, I liked the show. I love that they did it at end just for them after all the hard work.

That said I still would not let my kids watch. :)

OK, so whose lips were at the beginning? The husband said Rachel, but someone else I read said Santana. The voice did sort of sound like Rachel's.

And there are, unsurprisingly, mixed reactions to Frank being played by a girl. The husband and I were talking about it some more last night, and part of the problem is that they don't really have a male on the show at the moment who can sing that song. Chris Colfer/Kurt is terrific, but I think he would be totally unconvincing in that role. I don't think Mike or Finn could handle it. Artie *might* have, but his being in a wheelchair would have made the choreography very difficult. And even if Puck was there, I'm not sure he could handle it either - and was the song/show written by a Jew? ;)

I like that they had Emma/Will do the song away from the show itself. If that was supposed to be part of the show, how completely inappropriate would that have been for Rachel to be playing opposite her teacher?!?

Oh, and we loved Brittany's little throw-away line: "I'm going to be a peanut allergy." :)

I thought the lips and voice belonged to Rachel.

Many classic shows are heavily edited and amended, for a high school stage. A couple of years ago, our elementary school did Oliver, which has themes of child abandonment, child criminals, domestic violence, and murder. The high school did Grease, which has pretty overt sexuality. The music teacher lives near me, and I run into her all the time-she has edited and amended a lot of scripts, and nobody ever complains about the shows. It probably would be possible to keep the essential flavor of Rocky Horror, and make it pass muster for a high school to perform. Even the movie, in its original state is quite tame, by today's standards. The other day, I had on a sitcom, and was half-listening, and my daughter walked into the room. In one minute of dialogue, we were treated to several terms for lady parts and how to groom them for a potential romantic encounter. I thought that was more objectionable than anything in the "R" rated Rocky Horror.

I was pretty sure it was Quinn, actually.

I was pretty sure it was Quinn, actually.

I'd read on some blog somewhere that the guy thought it was Quinn.

I thought Mercedes hit that song out of the ballpark. I've only seen the movie once and never at a theater so I can't claim any big fandom of the movie, but I thought she was awesome. I really enjoyed the episode. I loved how self-absorbed Sue is ... "They were throwing toast at us!"

I recognized Barry Bostwick but totally forgot that he was in the movie. DOH! I didn't recognize Meatloaf, LOL.

I enjoyed this episode, but I've never seen the original. I've read a bit about it and the showings, so I knew about the toast thing, and I know the Time Warp song because they used to play that at school dances. I was glad to see Emma again, and more of Sue. I also thought the opening lips were Quinn.
