I know it's not anyone's exact intent but even at the rumor stage, this is a quasi spoiler. If it's something that hasn't happened yet, I hope you won't take offense if I ask for you to put it in spoiler tags?

Sorry. I didn't really think about it since I'm just speculating--anything in the articles can be wrong, I thought the thread was just a fun place to talk about options, since it came up. :(

As for the death, in my lunch time spoiler surfing it appears that it will be a 'beloved' character and will be female. We shall see!

Again, really not trying to be a drag but see your words "spoiler surfing" in the first post? When I see that, it indicates to me something a little stronger than personal speculation. And with social media, plot lines and surprises are much harder to keep secret these days. I love the twists and cameos worked into this show. They aren't as much fun for me if someone chats about them here first.

No big deal in the overall scheme of things. If the general consensus of the group is to share spoilers, I still have the choice of ignoring the thread. I'll still have the show. :)

Just finished this week's show, and I am a bit confused about Mercedes' shirt. These were things they were born with that they don't like, right? So, Mercedes didn't like the fact that she was born with no weave? Am I missing something there? I thought the others were funny, but that one didn't make sense to me. I also thought the mall number was kind of pointless, although the dancing was somewhat enjoyable. I'm glad Kurt's back.

And when I saw Brittany's shirt for Santana, I couldn't help but think of a scene from The Golden Girls when Dorothy tells Blanche that her friend is a lesbian and she says, isn't Danny Thomas one? And Dorothy says, "Not Lebanese, Blanche!"

Hi cheshirecatgirl,
Yeah, those shirts weren't exactly what they were said they were supposed to be. I didn't get the "No Weave", "Bad Attitude" or "Four Eyes" shirts either, since obviously, no one is born with a weave, you're not born with a bad attitude, you can choose to develop one or not and you're not born with "Four Eyes", that's a really rude name jerky people call someone who happens to need glasses to see better.

Hers wasn't worded exactly the same as the others, but the shirts were really for them to own things about themselves that they otherwise didn't like or that other people might pick on them for.. I noticed something was different about Mercedes' hair, but I couldn't pinpoint it until I went back and watched the earlier part of the show. In the final song, she has curly hair. In the earlier scenes and previously in the show, she's got straight hair, which is presumably a weave. She had a weave because she didn't like her own hair, but at the end, she went without the weave.

Ah, okay. I didn't notice her hair, I was too busy looking at the shirts!

Also, upon further reflection, the whole Quinn was fat story doesn't mesh with things that happened last season. What about her heartfelt conversation with Mercedes last year, when she was pregnant. Wouldn't she have already known then how it felt to be ostracized? And wasn't there a scene with Quinn's parents where she said something about her father wanting the perfect family and the pregnant teen didn't fit that. This story does not make sense with the things that happened before and Quinn's attitude. At least to me.

I am intrigued however, by the Santana- Karovsky story. It will be interesting to see where that goes.

I learned long ago that one really needs to wipe the slate clean before each episode as the characters are pretty inconsistent. The only thing that can be assumed from previous episodes is who is with whom relationship-wise. I realize this sets my expectations rather low, but I take Glee for what it is: teenage musical fantasy. I'm not expecting ground-breaking television (except in perhaps altering social perspectives on gay teens) or even stellar acting (though Chris Colfer deserves an Emmy solely based on "Never Been Kissed," the episode where we first meet Blaine and the Karofsky storyline begins). It's mostly light-hearted and I just try to enjoy it--whatever they throw at me.

On a lighter note, I think "Somewhere Only We Know" is my favorite Darren Criss/Blaine/Warblers number ever. I almost needed tissues for that one. I'm going to miss those blazers. (I'm also upset that they'll never be relevant for a Halloween costume...) The next two episodes should be great..."Rumours" looks fun and the prom episode sounds like it could be amazing (considering I was still the awkward nerd when my prom came around--and I went with a girl--I'll have to live vicariously through Kurt).

I loved the prom episode for so many reasons. I didn't realize how much I missed Jesse until he was back tonight. And I loved that they sang "Dancing Queen" at the end!

I feel the opposite. I did not like the episode until the very end when they did Dancing Queen. My favorite episode was when they went to Regionals and did original songs. I loved Loser like me.

The whole gay teen storyline(s) is great, as is Sam's storyline. Very touching how kind the kids have been kind about that. A couple of the song choices were odd, in the contexts they were presented-Mercedes even wondered aloud why he chose that particular song, which has nothing to do with romantic love. Also, "Jar of Hearts," which is pretty depressing, has the right tempo for a slow dance, but is not particularly romantic-it was just in there for the drama. Funny, and slightly obscure movie reference with Sue's "interrogation." I got it, but I had to think about the name for a minute-so much was happening I never had a chance to really explain that one to the kids. My tween commented that she really did not see that being prom queen was that big a deal-it's just a dance-and she's a pretty girl who is already getting attention for her looks. I praised her perspective, and added that, if that's your "peak," then it's pretty sad-lots of other chances to shine in life.

I liked the episode much better than the last two weeks. I thought the Jesse looked different but maybe just more mature? I loved Dancing Queen. I think they could have done without the fist fight scene.

Tonight's episode was a mixed bag, all of it good. Ryan Murphy managed to write an episode that was literally LOL funny and sad and amazingly touching, all rolled together.

I was having dinner while watching the show, and when Sue had her line about Panda Express not really having Chinese food, I almost spit my food out from laughing. Then when they showed Figgins' email address, I *really* almost spit my food out from laughing. I stopped eating until that scene was over.

The whole thing about Jean, Sue's sister, was completely unexpected, at least to me. I'd heard that the episode was entitled "Funeral", but I didn't know why. What a bomb Sue dropped when she told Will the news. They did a really good job of showing the softer side of Sue that we've seen without doing anything that went against her character. The theming of the funeral and her speech that she couldn't get through and that Will had to read, and especially the video montage of her and Jean during the song - wow. And when she asked Becky for a hug - double wow.

The only thing I didn't really care for is what they did to Jesse's character. However, I did think the audition segment was a good way to showcase random songs.

Seriously terrific episode.

I agree, they showed Sue's softer side, without taking the Sue edge off of her. Love all of it - especially the guys helping her with Jean's stuff and the hug with Becky at the end.

I missed Figgins' email account - just heard the password part.

I think because they were showing a tenderer side of Sue, she couldn't really be the villian in this episode, so they had to have Jesse to direct the teen angst onto. I guess they're showing it's not just the football heros and cheerleaders who have the 'glory days' in high school.

Are ANY of these kids ever graduating? They were all Freshmen when they started? Since this is Season 3 and they haven't said word one about 'next year' or graduation, except for Quinn talking about being Prom queen next year.

I may not have it exactly, but it was something like GettinFiggyWithIt@aol.com. :)

They mentioned during the prom episode that they were all running for king and queen of junior prom, so I took that to mean they're all juniors. So next year, they'll be seniors.

The hug made me cry. So sweet. I really cannot stand Jesse, but was glad to see him put in his place at the end. :) Good episode all around, which is nice after the last few bombs I watched.

Since I just watched MOST of season one over Mother's Day weekend, I know that Rachel was a sophomore last year. (Plus the Junior prom thing.)

Loved the episode. It was very true to the characteristics/personality traits of special needs adults, in my experience. When they showed the movie that she wore out watching over and over... yep. And what movie it WAS. yep. And the home movies during her funeral service. And Sue's eulogy to her. Yep. It just seemed to hit nails on the head, and balls out of the ballpark.

That funeral scene was so touching. My daughter had it on again yesterday, and I got teary all over again. Most TV shows revolve around the dynamic of tensions in relationships, and personality conflicts, especially in humorous contexts. Glee is one of the few shows that actually shows people being empathetic to each other. Sue made those kids miserable at school, but they rose above that and created that lovely tribute to the most important relationship in her life, and felt her pain. A great lesson, for kids and adults. While it will seem like those kids will never graduate, and I think all of the actors playing kids are in their 20's, there seems to be a long theatrical tradition of overage actors playing teenagers. Remember Grease, when many of the "kids" were in their late 20's or even 30's? The young lady from High School Musical (she was on DWTS), who was in her late 20's and playing a high school senior. We'll see how long they keep them as seniors.

As far as casting 20-something actors to play teenagers goes, I think they do that because minors have different labor laws in the entertainment industry and it makes production that much harder. With a schedule as hectic as Glee's especially, they need a cast that can keep up both physically and legally.

And Ryan Murphy (the show's creator) has been quoted as saying that characters will start graduating at the end of next season. As to how many we'll lose and where the show will go afterwards, that remains to be seen.

It's not just in the theatre. It's pretty common in TV and films in general for actors to play much younger than their true age.

I meant TV, movies, etc. I was referring to the original movie version of Grease.

I get that Glee is a fantasy concept, in many ways. It's fun that production numbers spring out of nowhere, for example. But the finale was just plain absurd. I could not get over the many ways in which the nationals trip bore no relationship to the way high school field trips really work. No chaperones other than the teacher, and he bugs out on them, leaving them completely without adult supervision? They stay at a very expensive hotel in the heart of Manhattan, and management doesn't care that they are stuffing the rooms way over fire code? In reality, they would have taken a bus, not flown, probably-my nieces live in Central PA, and their highly-regarded high school band performs at Disney World-they bus down there. And they would have probably stayed in a moderate chain hotel-in New Jersey, and the bus would have taken them into the city for the competition. But then, you could not have kids-none of which have been to NY before, but they know there way around perfectly-sneaking off for meets at a particular spot in Central Park, going to Breakfast at Tiffany's, etc. As far as their actual performance-it was far from their best-the song selections were disjointed. That kiss in the middle of it-was the least of the issues. Shoulda watched DWTS, and saved Glee for On Demand.

Patti LuPone: FTW! I especially liked when she told Rachel "He's cute!"

Kurt and Rachel. On THE stage. I cried. I just cried.

Really don't like Quinn. Just. Don't.

Sue and Becky's PSA for "End the Word" - again, For The Win!!! Loved it!!

I thought the episode overall was so-so. I thought the ending was a little bit too sunshine and lollipops BUT I liked it. :) I liked that they're showing the strength of the characters not that they're just picked on all the time.

Oh, and I'm sorry I don't know Kurt's BF's name but loved that sweet moment with the two of them at the end. :)

I really like the PSA also. It was very up-front, the R-word is just as unacceptable to use as the N-word, K-word, F-word, etc. People have gotten into the unfortuate habit of throwing it around in casual conversation, totally out of context, and it's just mean, and needs to stop.

Kurt's BF is Blaine, and yes, that was a sweet scene.

I just did not like their performance that much-if, in fact, they were performing a song they had written, at the last minute (and, I've heard better G-rated pop songs in Disney made-for-TV movies), the performance showed it. They are so much better than their most-important performance. At least they did not win with it-it wasn't a winning performance, at that level, and coming in 12th was still quite an achievement. I'm glad the Rachel sincerely apologized to the kid (played by Clarice) who ended up in VA-she did treat her terribly.

I enjoyed watching it. I do agree with the leaving the kids unsupervised and how come none of these kids parents ever go to any of this stuff?? If my DD or sons were singing or dancing anywhere, we would be there!
I liked the song between Rachel and Finn and the duet with Rachel and Kurt was moving. :)
I liked how they did not win this time or place high up, just shows them how much harder they have to work for next year. I missed the PSA, I zipped through the commercials, may have to go back and look for it.

She actually goes by the name Charice. I think her character name is Sunshine. I was surprised she was only in the two (?) episodes this year. I knew she wasn't in for the whole season, but I had thought she'd at least be in a few more.

Agreed. It was too soon for that, even for them to make top 10. Next year, it'll be their second time, and they'll be seniors. That might be a different story, but I'm still not sure I *want* them to win Nationals.
