We're heading to DL in May with my two little ones, 2 year old and 4 1/2 years. Last time we went we had a tandem stroller that worked great, but it's seen better times and simply won't make another trip (bits fall off every day). So we're trying to figure out if we should buy another garage sale (this time side by side) stroller, or use the umbrella stroller connectors and get two cheap umbrella strollers.

With two strollers (theoretically) we could disconnect them if we want at some point during the day and each parent take one child. But having never used the connectors, I'm not sure if that's reasonable. Also, not sure if two umbrellas, with connectors, will get through doors the way a normal side by side would.

Sorry this is a dull one, but maybe somebody knows the deal with this! Thanks!

I don't know the answer to your connectors question but here's my opinion:

I would first say that you should make sure you have baskets if you go with the cheap umbrella stroller.

But the reality is, that's not how I personally stroller. I'm a hanger. In fact, I drive OregonZooRon a little crazy because I tell people that I hang my diaper bag and/or purse and/or fanny pack and or jackets on the handles of my strollers.

OZR, nice guy, is concerned that strollers will tip- more importantly, tip with children in them.

That's a very valid concern- more valid when you're dealing with very light weight umbrella strollers.

With my 2 and 4.5 y/o's (same ages as yours!) I really like having my diaper bag full for a day at DLR- light change of clothes, sweatshirts, diapers, snacks, water bottles, juice boxes.

You might not be as high maintenance as I am ;) but in case you are, you might want to consider those issues when you consider what kind of stroller to bring.

We're bringing two strollers simply because our 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 year olds are too big to sit nicely in our side-by-side for 5 days without "getting into it". I think giving each girl her own space is much more humane. Also I think getting through the crowds and the stores are a lot easier with each parent pushing one small stroller than a cumbersome double stroller. Plus it's also easier to split up this way if necessary.
