Hi ~
If you were to choose between the two - which do you think would be better to do - San Diego Zoo or Wild Animal Park?
We have never been to California and will be there mid April. We have two young girls - ages 6 and 8.
Any information would be appreciated!
Also - is it better to buy tickets online or when we get there? Thanks! :)

If I only had one day and had to choose between the parks, I would pick the San Diego Zoo. Why?
**The Children's Zoo is fantastic--one of my favorite places ever.
**The exhibits are very close together and you can see a great many animals in a short period of time.
**The pandas. Only one other place in the United States to see them.
**The Zoo is located in the heart of San Diego--if you have time, you can also see Balboa Park, the Air and Space Museum, the Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village, etc. etc.
I love the WAP too--they have wonderful, unique exhibits, but for first time visitors, especially with children, I would vote for the Zoo.
I would recommend buying tickets online if you can. The lines in the mornings to buy tickets can get very, very long.
Have a great trip :)
Both are wonderful, but I would definitely recommend the San Diego Zoo to anyone. That is the very best, most beautiful zoo I have ever visited. There are tickets that you can buy there that give you 3 parks for 5 days - I don't know the price now, but you get Sea World, the Zoo and the WAP.

I would say the zoo, too.
I haven't been to the WAP in years because, to me, when it is hot, it is too hot. When it is cold, it is too cold. With the small children it was hard.
And yes, being so close to a lot of other things is a plus. Balboa Park is beautiful, even if you just walk through it.
Have fun!
Thanks for the info! I will check it out online and see if I can purchase them there! :)
