Guess I'd forgotten that.

One thing really irritated me with the Quick Fire challenge, though (reading the 'whats in my glass' thread reminded me of it).

All the wines they listed the winery, EXCEPT for Evolution, which was paired with the pate and won. It's by Sokol-Blosser, and I think I've met Ms. Sokol-Blosser once or twice, but Mr. Blosser was our office manager when I started with my current company. (I don't remember if they're still together - but she is stuck with the hyphenated name on her winery!)

If anyone is in the McMinnville, OR area, they have a nice set up to visit. They even do some concerts in the summer there. (We had a tent and catered food and I got to bring one of our clients one time and saw Manhattan Transfer.)

Both my hubby and I were surprised to see Ed Cotton, from this season of Top Chef on the new episode of Iron Chef, as Cat Cora's sous chef!! The season isn't done running yet, but he was there, working away!

Richard Blaise from a couple seasons ago was on that show as well, so it's interesting to see past chef-testants showing up there.

I wonder if this means Ed won or he lost on this season's Top Chef!

I was bummed, again, to see this week's Cheftestant leave. But I guess at this point I'd be sad to see any of them go, save one, maybe. :)

What would've been nice is if they'd included a clip that I saw on BravoTv.com that showed an expanded Judge's Table that showed them discussing this person's dish and they said they could get that anywhere at a mid-price Asian restaurant back in the States. The Cheftestant didn't put their own spin on the dish the way the others did.

I can respect that and get behind that decision. I just wish they'd included that in the show that aired.

Karin, I'm presuming that was regarding the one that left?

I wasn't shocked with the outcomes (winner or loser) though just like last week, it was a very small distance between the winner and loser.

Looks like contestants from previous seasons are back as sous chefs next week. I'm thinking maybe they did that last year too? And I wonder how much the previews were edited to 'get us to watch' vs the magnitude of what actually happens with Angelo.

Cathy, in the past the 3 most recent kicked off Cheftestants have been the sous chefs for the finale.

I'm interested to see that they've brought back past winners as sous chefs. I guess it just wouldn't "do" to bring the folks they've just kicked off all the way across the world, giving them a fabulous trip like that and they don't even have to compete.

And the drama with Angelo is interesting, too.

Based on the meals presented, I'm good with the winner.

That was my thought as well. I know there was a TON of editing when the guys first stood in front of the judges (heck, I think they even edited it into a different order) - but it was pretty telegraphed from that, I thought.

I did like that they had them using the same proteins, that really took that variable OUT of the equation in the comparisons.

I completely agree.

I finally saw the finale and bah humbug! I did not want him to win for some reason. I can't pinpoint anything, but I was rooting for Ed.

I think *most* folks were rooting for Ed, CB. *sigh* But when he drew the knife with Elan's name on it, I think it was over for him.
