I dunno, I feel like if they were going to go through all the effort of dropping the 's, they should have made the "Disney" smaller in the logo. Then maybe it would be less "DCA" and more just "California Adventure."
They've got to be kidding. The whole idea for the 1.4 billion investment was to transform DCA into California in the 20s and 30s? This logo looks like a 70's cartoon font.
Yeah, an art deco font would have looked much nicer...
Totally agree on the art deco idea, when it's this cartoon-y I feel like it's just Toontown turned into an entire park.
That said, I don't hate it, I just don't love it.

Oof, typographically that logo has issues.
Sure, the rotated letters make for a fun and relaxed look, but they also contribute to a rather messy design.
You've got three clearly distinct aesthetics clashing here. There's (1) the "Disney" text in hand-written script, (2) the "California" in Looney Tunes wacky text, and (3) the "Adventure" in almost futuristic black lettering.
That said, I'm no expert and the people who designed this logo are. I'm sure they've got a brand image in mind that this will mesh well with. There have been some great things coming out of DCA lately, but in my opinion this logo isn't one of them.

I noticed in commercials, they are saying "The Disney California Adventure Park" which makes it less grating on the ears, so maybe they need to add a "The" to the logo.

Total speculation:
I'm betting we're in a transitional phase. Disney wants the park to be known and stand on its own as 'California Adventure'. It's going to be pretty awesome once Little Mermaid, Carsland and the new entrance are all completed. The park has been known as 'Disney's California Adventure' since it opened. They changed the name, but left the 'Disney' for now. I'm betting eventually it will be much smaller or even removed from the logo.

I noticed while watching the new Blue Sky Cellar video that there is a point where one of the imagineers says "Disney's CA", but the subtitles say "Disney CA". It made me giggle.

I thought the MP speculation a while back was that the Big Suits In Corporate were going to change the "California Adventure"completely.
Or maybe I am remembering the nay-sayers of MP, back when DCA opened? - Viz., the argument that, marketing-wise, California natives wouldn't be interested in coming to a park themed with California geography?

Back when it was D's CA?

I don't mind the name change. People are just going to keep saying "Let's go to that California place over by Disneyland." or "Let's go to California Land"
The logo isn't too bad. It's clean and to the point, I guess. I would have liked it to look more like the California Lisence plate font, more script like.
But I guess that is kind of what they had before.
Being a native Californian, I like to think of CA as less structured and more relaxed environment. But that could just be me. :)

I'm coming in here late, but I just got an animated internet ad for WOC. It's says it's at--Disney California Adventure (tm symbol) Park. As a sometime grammar freak it really bothers me. It kind of falls off the tongue. In fact I think it's sounds just plain stupid.

<raises hand> On occasion, I have referred to it as DHS, but then people don't know what I'm talking about.
And while we're on it how about Disney Hollywood Studio Park--yeah that sounds good.

the first thing I thought of was that " Disney" is now a city or town. You know...Disney, California USA?
Going to the Park Tues or Wed with out of towners!!! getting ready for an all day-er

You are sooooooooooooooo close!
I say, "Call it Disney Hollywood Park," and get a whole 'nother kind of crowd coming. - The four-legged kind! ;):)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned before, but here is why I think they changed the logo
Does anyone remember the old Disney cartroons? I believe they had the type of lettering as the new DCA logo. Not to mention, a lot of Paradise Pier rides/games are based off old Disney cartoons.
Just my observation.....

As a relative DCA newcomer, what was the old logo? I'm sure I've seen it, but it'd be nice to have a comparison!
I still call it MGM. I cannot bring myself to call it DHS. I don't like that name. It's been MGM to me since it first opened when I was ten years old, and it always will be!
