We have some friends coming out from Texas for a visit next month, so we'll be taking them to DCA for sure (they've been to DL), with dinner at the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose for dinner. Since we're PAPs, we never have to think about buying one day tickets, so I'm not up on the latest ticket info.

We have a Walk for Hope, down in San Diego on the morning of 5-22, but then we'll be going up to DLR after we're done. Since City of Hope changed their original date on this, we won't be walking, my hubby will just go down in the morning, to take photos of our club members who will be walking (while the rest of us will be sleeping in) before it starts, then coming back up, so we can go to DLR.

Since we're not sure how much time we'll need at DCA, because of this and our dinner reservations at 5:30, I'm thinking we may not have them get the 1-day tickets with the park hopper, since it's an additional $20 for that, right? Can we have them get the 1-day, 1-park ticket, then when we figure out if we'll have enough time to make it worth the extra expense to go to DL, can we upgrade them to include DL admission then? That day, DCA's open til 9 pm and DL's open til midnight.

Does Costco have the best price for 1-day tickets, or where should I pick them up for them?

You can upgrade a one-day, one-park ticket anytime during that day. I'm pretty sure the Costco rate for this ticket is full price.

where would I find the best price for the 1-day, 1-park tickets that can be upgraded, if we find we'll have enough time to make it worth it for them?

Do we, as PAPs, get any price cuts for these tickets, or any other perks I should know of, to make their visit more enjoyable?

I'm really excited about this visit, since we haven't physically laid eyes on each other in person, since we were at the end of 8th grade, saying a very tearful good-bye to each other!

Everything since has been thru old-fashioned writing real letters, back and forth to each other, her leaving off when she got married and became too busy to keep in touch better, but then we eventually found each other thru electronic means!

Seems like there should be a "Movie of the Week", or at least an "After-School Special", to be made out of our story! :D

Thanks for the info so far, AVP!!

Many credit unions have discount tickets available. The one that I bank at offers the one day hopper for 82.00- it is regular priced at 97.00/ one day one park is 67.00- regular price is 72.00 (adult prices are the ones that I show) :)

Be aware that if you purchase a discounted one-day, one-park ticket somewhere and decide to upgrade it, you're still going to pay the full difference between the face value of that ticket and the box office cost of a one-day parkhopper ticket. In the end, you're paying $97, regardless of how you split it up.

If you really think you're going to end up upgrading the ticket, best to look for a discounted one-day parkhopper ticket somewhere - check with your credit union or company activities office.

Thanks for the info AVP and rivermary!

My hubby checked with his activity person and came back with the answer that it's $69 for the One Day, One Park ticket and $86 for the One Day Parkhopper.

So if I'm understanding your post correctly, if we bought the $64 ticket and then wanted to upgrade it, it would be a difference of $28, instead of $17, by buying the parkhopper to begin with?

Just want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly, before I email my girlfriend, to see which she wants to do.

Just want to make sure I'm understanding it correctly, before I email my girlfriend, to see which she wants to do.

If you buy any ticket at any price and updgrade that ticket to a Parkhopper at the main gate, you'll pay a total of $97 for that ticket.

It sounds like you can buy a hopper for $86 through your husband's activity office.

So, you just have to decide how likely you are to want to upgrade the ticket. If you just buy the hopper ticket to start with, you'll save $11.
