We are going to DL from May 4th-11th. I've been to WDW a bunch of times, but not DL, so I have no idea what it's like. I will be taking my then 3 year old, and my then 10 month old. My three year old is trained already, but obviously my 10 month old still goes through tons of diapers. I really don't want to pack all of those diapers, because we will already have so much stuff to pack for two little kids. So my question is, is there somewhere that I can get diapers? We are not renting a car, so it would have to be in walking distance. My dad (who is going with us) said just to get them in the hotel shop. Even though I know the price will be through the roof, it may be worth it. Also, he still eats baby food. I don't know if he is going to be then or not, but is there babyfood available? BTW, we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

Last question, have you guys done laundry there? I know I have to bring TONS of clothes, especially for the baby. Am I better off packing lighter and doing laundry, maybe in the middle of the week for all of us? We are already going to have a million things. We are bringing two strollers (umbrella), luggage for all of us (me, my husband, two kids, and my parents) a carseat for the baby on the plane, and whatever else we end up with.
We are planning on bringing the kids back to the hotel in the afternoon anway for a nap.
Thanks for your help!

I can't address the availablity of baby food on property without access to a car to go out to a grocery store, My personal suggestion? Pack 1/2 what you originally planned, use the extra luggage space for those extra diapers and his baby food .... doing a load or two of laundry during your stay would be more than worth the security of having exactly the diapers/food for your little one on hand IMHO. Another idea, get the economy pack of diapers and just have one of the 4 adults count it as a carryon, you know it's most likely going to be gone for the return trip so the souvieners you buy and need to stuff places will have the room to come home in....

Have a blast on the trip :)

Buying products on property: The baby care centers (profiled here (http://www.mouseplanet.com/akrock/hello.htm)) sell diapers, 5 flavors of Gerber baby food, formulas, and a host of other items detailed in that article I linked. The article is a couple years old so the price of diapers may have gone up. Like you said, he might not be eating nearly as much baby food by then so the baby care center's selection may be adequate.

What do you consider walking distance? If you want to walk about 1/2 to 1 mile up Harbor, there's a Target that will have a good deal on diapers and may have a better selection of baby food. It's located at the intersection of Harbor and Chapman. If you bought an ART ticket for $2, you could take the ART shuttle to the Hyatt Alicante, just across the street from Target, and do some shopping. ART is the Anaheim Resort shuttle service.

What do you think about buying a little baby food grinder and make your own baby food?

We have one like the one pictured here (http://boutique.momsbags.com/skufoodmill786441.html?source=overture) (not that you have to buy it from that source, I know they can be found cheaper elsewhere...it was just one of the links I found doing a Yahoo search) and we just grind up some of the food from our meals when we're in a pinch.

That grinder isn't really the easiest thing to work with all the time. But it does grind up fruits and pastas really well. I think it even works on meats, but I'm not sure.

Also, by 10 months Baby should have enough teeth to be able to work through soft solids. You just have to cut it up smaller so he doesn't choke.

Unless you want to take a taxi to one of the nearby grocery stores, I would recommend that you stuff every corner of your bags with diapers and the supplies you need. The cost of jarred baby food and diapers/pullups at the convenience stores is crazy, and their selection is extremely limited. There are real grocery stores and discount stores all around the Anaheim Resort area. Not so sure I would take ART if you have bundles of groceries and kids with you, but a taxi would do.

I'm not sure if NetGrocer or Albertson's still deliver to the resort, but that is another option. You could add in water bottles and snacks to an order.

I usually pack my own diapers when we travel and I've found an advantage: As you use them, they free up space in the luggage for souvenirs ;)

If you were only going to buy a couple of bags full of items to cover vacation needs, I don't see how carrying them back to the hotel on ART would be different from carrying backpacks, diaper bags, strollers, and other things that you might take to the park for a day.

Don't worry about me pampering myself on vacation!! I never said "I" was planning on going to the store. I plan on sitting next to the pool swimming with my boys, while my husband goes to the store.;) Hee, hee, hee. I do all the shopping the other 51 weeks a year, he can step up for one week! Thanks for all you advice. I'll have to think about it a little bit. As far as the baby food, I don't know how much he'll even want. He already eats table food, but he still does like baby food with his meals too. I'll just have to wait and see closer to the date. Thanks again!

We just used the Baby Care Center a few weeks ago during our trip and the only thing I can add to Adrienne's article is now they sell ALL sizes of diapers for 1.00 They sell the large tube of Desitin for 4.00 (our local grocery store sells it for 4.59, so that was a bargin). When we were there they were out of wipes.

I would say depending on how many diapers you go thru at home during a day, if you were willing to buy some in DL or at the Target, I would pack less diapers and more wipes.

My Allyson just turned two and will go in the potty anytime I ask her, but she won't tell me...so I packed 3 pull ups for each day we were there, but some days she stayed dry all day. And I brought most of our pull ups home with us, something I didn't plan on doing. On one of our last days I forgot the grab the back pack and needed a clean pull up and for 1.00 the baby center was wonderful. If I had known their diapers/pull ups were that cheap I would have left the back pack at the hotel more often.

Adrienne, Thanks for telling me that was a dunk sink for cloth diapers. I wondered what that was and Ashley, my 3 year old, asked everytime "What big kid uses that potty mommy".
