How many people are currently registered on MousePad?

How many times does the average person visit?

I hope you can answer these questions!

Stats that are available to anybody with the time and inkling:

As of me beginning this message:

829 registered users
437 have at least one post
392 have never posted

13,858 total posts
16.7 posts per registered user
31.7 posts per active user (at least one post)

We're very close on the 80/20 rule. 80% of the posts have been contributed by 25% of the active users (72 posters)

Average thread length: 9.8 posts

I can not tell you how often people visit (if we really wanted to we could probably develop this information but we don't really want to).

Yikes! I must be an active poster!!!

I can say that Napsto wuold be on the top of the list, right?

Why would some people register and never post?

Maybe they haven't had anything to say yet.

When I ran the numbers I was actually surprised that more than half of the registered people had posted at least once.

My experience is that lurkers tend to far outnumber participants.

Hey lurkers! Come back me up on this.

Hey I registered in April right when MousePad was announced and didnt really start contributing until the June. I was just a little shy at first, thats all, and Im sure other people feel the same way.

Well If your going by total number of posts then Napsto takes the prize, but if you are going for content(no offense Napsto) then i would have to say Alex Stroup and/or LisaP.... I was right up there with them at one point but I havent been posting much lately!

Everybody just lay off my home boy Napsto. His heart is as big as Rhode Island (which is a small state but would be very big for a heart.). I like to think of his posts as "economical." Doesn't "it's all good" really say it all? How can you add to that? Back off.;)

Look under the big MousePlanet sign and you'll see a button that says members. Click it and then click the line that says "Top 25 Posters"

Oh, I hope you all catch us moderators. When we started, my fear was that after six months, the top ten spots would all be taken by MousePlanet people. I'm tickled (well, as tickled as I ever get) that the fear has proven baseless.

But that's what makes this board fun! Everyone enjoys interacting with the columnists and editors and perhaps getting an interesting scoop on different topics--It wouldn't be as entertaining if moderators just observed from the sidelines.

Of course we won't stop, but I also didn't want us to be the drivers of conversation. We moderators talk to each other all the time, I was afraid we were just going to end up doing it where the world could read.

Heck, I plan to keep my post count up with a steady string of "dagnabit kids, watch your language, turn down that music, and stop leaving your bikes in my yard!!"

Yeah, you really need to keep an eye on us unruly teenagers--we're CRAZY!!

lisap, you go girl!

Thanks, JRob, for calling our attention to that. I had no idea that I was posting so much...it was those darn trivia threads that really got me addicted for a while! And when life gets a little less busy for me, you watch your back because I'll be headed your direction! ;)

I agree with all above who say that it's wonderful that we can all interact with the moderators...it really does make it that much more interesting to get different insights. I mean, we un-connected fans only know so much on our own! Plus, it looks like there are lots of other Disney fans/experts out there who are adding even more to the pot. It's been a really great experience. This is my first time being an active participant on a board like this...and it's been absolutely wonderful!

MP is my first experience with message boards. I never had any interest until now. When I found a place where I could discuss, learn more, and find other people who love my favorite place as well as the Mouse ...I wanted to be "part of". And I too, was too shy to jump on board (or should I say intimidated...you guys really seem to know each other well).
This whole thing has been interesting, and fun. I spend too much time here...my boss keeps wondering why I am smiling and nodding my head all of the time! When I spend all hours of the night on MP, I know I am in trouble.

mad4, actually the funny part is, I only "know" one other person on the boards (that's in the biblical or any other sense). It doesn't take much time to make new friends. If you have a sense of humor about yourself and what you are doing, you get along very well.

Alex, I sense the internal battle that comes with enforcing rules. "Gee, I really hate to be the parent here, but could you please, please, please not practice copyright infringement or curse like a sailor or call someone who thinks that a theme park ride is good a big jerkweed." vs. "Fight the power, information belongs to the people, where's the keg?" I look forward to seeing the battle continue in the future.

And I don't know anyone else at all on this board (wouldn't it be funny if my husband or best friend were on this board, and I didn't figure it out?!), but I feel like I've come to be friends with many...even posters who don't necessarily agree with my viewpoint. I think that's what makes this board a little different...it seems to be a lot more "tolerant" than others I've heard of, in that we actually have lively debates rather than shooting down any one particular viewpoint. And I'm sure the lively debates have kept moderators like Alex very busy!

Oh, and EandC, nice avatar! You keep your eye on crime in Bumblyberg, okay?;)

I didn't mean that you "knew" each other, like going out for a beer after work kind of "know". But, a lot of members who post a lot know each other's "quirks" and sense of humor. It was kind of tough to hop right in and start writing among all the friendly joking and "familiarity" that long standing members enjoy with each other.
I hope in time, I too will be amongst you all.

Well, if you mean "long standing" as four months, I guess that would work. :D

I mean, this is new to all of us, so don't feel intimidated by us obnoxious people who feel they have to post 6.75 times a day or thereabouts. Just jump right in--it's great to have new people to pick on....err, I mean interact with. :D
