LEGOLANDŽ to Unveil New Ride and Sports Area;
Most Aggressive Expansion since Park's Opening

BIONICLE(tm) Blaster Ride and LEGO Sports Center Based on Award-winning Toy Lines

CARLSBAD, Calif. (February 25, 2003) -- LEGOLANDŽ California proves "its got game" for 2003. The 128-acre theme park in Carlsbad is debuting a new ride and a whole new themed area. The 16,000-square-foot expansion, LEGOŽ SPORTS Center, guarantees to put guests in the middle of the sporting action and make them feel like an all-star. Also slated to open for Spring Break, the new BIONICLE(tm) Blaster ride is a twisting, turning interactive attraction the whole family can enjoy together. These additions to LEGOLAND represent the most aggressive new development at the Carlsbad theme park since its opening in March '99.

BIONICLE Blaster
Rising up out of the Imagination Zone, the new BIONICLE Blaster ride consists of 12 individual circular cars that twist and spin on and around a circular platform. The real blast with the new ride is the wheel in the center of each of the 12 BIONICLE-themed cars. Just like everything else a LEGOLAND, this ride allows guests to control the speed of their ride. The more they spin the wheel, the wilder their ride. The BIONICLE Blaster ride is based on the popular BIONICLE line of action toys that captured two top awards from the American Toy Industry Association last year - "Most Innovative Toy of the Year" and "Best Boy Toy of the Year."

LEGO SPORTS Center
In addition to featuring the newest NBA and NHL-themed LEGO Sports Build & Play toys and attractions, the LEGO SPORTS Center at LEGOLAND will also offer football, basketball and soccer-related activities geared towards youngsters. Soccer fans will have the chance to test their skills as they kick for speed and accuracy. Life-sized NBA players constructed entirely out of LEGO bricks will tower over young guests shooting baskets at hoops of various heights. Kids can compare the size of their handprints to those of famous sports heroes. Other activities include a quarterback pass and an Extreme Sports Show during the summer season, while a newly revamped Sports Diner will energize hungry young athletes.

"Studies show sports are the number one interest of kids throughout the world," said LEGOLAND President and General Manager Bill Haviluk. "Bringing a dynamic, interactive new zone to the park where even the smallest youngsters can enjoy sports-themed attractions is a slam dunk for LEGOLAND."

The new ride and the new expansion area are scheduled to be open in April 2003. For more information on LEGOLAND log on to www.legoland.com (http://www.legoland.com)
