You know you have (half) marathon fever when someone sneezes in the grocery checkout line and you instantaneously hold your breath, drop your items (next to the Bat Boy article) and run from the store. This isn’t enough, upon arriving home you gargle a half gallon of Listerine and neti pot your sinuses for a half hour. You also down your last l-glutamine gelcap and 500 mg of vitamin C. After all, you were only in the store to replenish these items in the first place. Why else would you be out amongst the snot-faucets and mouth-breathers?

Good luck everyone!

I hate when that happens! Sorry you won't be down there, but hopefully we can provide some vicarious thrills from our reports. I will probably be tweeting some with my @MPStephanie account.

My twins are in the 5th grade and they had a field trip to Washington DC that I decided to go on, so I didn't miss out on fun...other than the 17 hour bus ride with a bunch of 5th graders. If I don't get into the NYC marathon in November, then I'll be going to Disney for 2012. For the 20th anniversary in 2013 we have a group of about 20 going. I'll be doing the 5K with my kids, the Goofy (for the 3rd time) with my wifes uncle, and then going to Disneyland for the half to get the coast to coast. Thats the plan so far anyway.

Is this your first half - or your first Disney half?

First on both accounts Cathy!

I assume everyone doing the half is in final stages of relaxation or already asleep, but GOOD LUCK to all!!!

Nice job!

Hats off to the walkers! I have tried to walk with my wife at 16 minute mile pace, when she is training for the princess. I can't walk that fast.

This was my first Gallow-walk half. It really works! I walked at every mile marker for a minute. It took a real leap of faith to walk even when I felt really good most of the time. I knocked a good seven minutes from my recent half times. It's the best half I've had in ten years. Easily I'm a convert.

I know many have had success with his program yet I never mustered the discipline to walk when feeling untaxed at the beginning of a race.

Mommy2NicknMax - or anyone else who did the Goofy, or just knows ---
In the picture of the three medals in the WDW update to day (here) (http://www.mouseplanet.com/9502/Walt_Disney_World_Resort_Update#marathon) - what does the 235.8 represent? It's exactly 6*(13.1+26.2), so I was thinking this might be the 6th Goofy as a specific event?

Absolutely correct.

Thanks for the well wishes! Sorry I didn't end up tweeting much. I stayed at Saratoga Springs with some friends. They didn't want to get to the bus as early as I did, so we met at 3:30. When we got down to the pick up point, the line stretched way down the sidewalk and people were still arriving. One bus lefte just as we arrived, and we didn't see another for 30 more minutes. All told we waited 55 minutes to get on a bus. By then it was almost 5, when were we supposed to be in our corrals for the start.

The driver then proceeded to take the long way out of SSR, causing us to get stuck in even more of the Epcot car traffic, then stayed in the middle lane as one after another, buses passed us on the left. Freakout was happening. When we finally arrived at the start area, the place was deserted and we went right through bag check, quickly tossing our bags to the people there and heading for one last stop at the portapotties. By the time I was exiting, we could hear the national anthem start, and we still had the long walk to the corrals!

Very stressful start to the day, but at least the weather was good. The race went pretty well too. I ran with some Goofy runners so we took it easy for them.

Congrats to all the finishers! Steph - it was great seeing you this weekend!

I managed to finish my second Goofy with literally no quality training since my ankle injury after Wine and Dine. I don't recommened it. ;)

The half was super crowded and it left the full course feeling nearly empty...even more so than years past. I finished on plan with a respectable half time and my slowest full time but I have the bling! :D

For those that are considering Marathon Weekend, it was announced that there were 50,000 participants from the Diaper Dash all the way to Goofy. 27K for the Half and roughly 17K for the Full.

Kevin - I have you beat here. My partner in crime for Goofy had to drop out of Donald at mile 6+ this weekend because she had come down with the flu and pneumonia (it started Thursday night)! That made for an interesting weekend. ;)

Yep! Disney recognizes all of the runners who are "Perfectly Goofy." Last year they had a special sash they got to wear and this year their bibs and finisher medal lanyards were different.

I'm freaking out for you by just reading this. The first time I did a race at Disney was with Train to End Stroke, kind of like Team In Training that you did. They told us about the year before and people waking up late and not getting to the bus early enough and having to sprint to the start line. I have to have everything planned out and follow a schedule or I get upset, so I make sure I'm up extra early for Disney races. I did the Music City Marathon in Nashville and our shuttle driver had to stop for gas, of all things. I got to my coral just in time to be one of the last to cross the start line, so I know how you felt.
