We just got back from a long weekend visit at the park and I couldn't wait to share my celebrity sighting.

My daughter and I were hanging out near Small World and the Princess Pavillion area about 3:30 on Friday the 14th when I spotted......

Johnny 'Freakin' Depp!

He was there with his wife(?) and daughter visiting all the princesses. He was wearing a work shirt with the name 'Bob' on it, jeans, a baseball cap and black-rimmed glasses. What clued me in to his identity in the first place was his profile and that shaggy beard he wears.

You should have seen the look on Cinderella's face and the ensuing looks she gave him - too funny. Actually I was probably making the very same faces myself.

He and his family walked by us a couple of times and Johnny stayed near where we were sitting, talking to the CM that was accompanying them around the park, while his wife and daughter visited the other princesses.

So now I can say that I sat near Johhny Depp for a good 30 minutes - wooo hooo!!!

;)

Agh!!!!

I love Johnny Depp!!!

How cool was that? Oh man, that goes off the meter, I think!!

And how nice to have a sighting of him with his family. I think they have become the most important things in his life over the past few years. That is cool.

Wow. :)

I wonder how the whole "CM accompaniment" thing works. How big a star does one need to be? Does the agent set it all up? Someone here must have the scoop!
:D

That is so cool, but you have to wonder how hard it is for the face characters to stay IN character when someone famous is standing there.....

Our only 'sighting' was Tom Hanks and family last summer as they were buying another brick :)

I have no idea, not too big apparently because last month we saw Pia Zadora at DCA and she had a CM also;)

Friday was Valentine's Day, a reminder to those of us who didn't celebrate, for what ever reason. :(

Anywho, that is sweet, huh? Taking his girls to Disneyland on Valentines' Day.

I saw an episode of The Wayne Brady Show where Paige Davis from Trading Spaces was talking about having a CM escort. She basically said that she didn't really think she was a big enough star to need an escort, and she told the CM that she didn't think anyone would recognize her. Then I guess a bunch of people did...

And Johnny Depp, that is so cool. Largent81 can attest to the fact that I LOVE 21 Jumpstreet.

Hey - I saw a preview for the movie at a Marketing Survey place over at the block. The preview made me want to go see it - I thought it would be pretty hokey but the preview made it look alright. ;)

And you actually saw Johnny in person. ::swoon:: :)

Wow - that is totally cool. Johnny Depp is lovely....

Btw, the stuff I've read so far about the POTC movie (Empire magazine, etc) is very promising - sounds like it will be good...

So.... I'm sitting there near Johnny "freakin" Depp for quite a while thinking 'No one is gonna believe this, I've got to take a picture of him'. So I did - without his daughter and without his wife. I could have gotten the cutest picture of him hugging his daughter while his wife stood by but it would have been tooooo intrusive.

The bad thing - I didn't bring my good camera and my video camera was with my husband and son elsewhere in the park - so I used my little disposable that I just happened to have on me.

What I really wish I would have done now is ask him, discreetly of course, to pose with my daughter and I for a picture and maybe get his autograph too.... At the time, I just wanted to respect his privacy (other than the quick snapshot I took).

The question I pose to you;

If you spotted a celebrity in the park, would you go up ask for a photo and their autograph??

See, it really depends. At Disneyland, no. With the few celebrities I've seen, (Like I saw the Character Bud, from the CBS show Jag the other day) I usually just go up to them and tell them that I think they are a great actor/ actress, tell them to keep up the good work, and to have a great rest of the day at the park. Sometimes I won't even do that, just because it's Disneyland.

Now... Knott's Berry and Scary Farm is a different story, I ran into quite a few celebrities, (Including Corey Feldman, LOL!) and I just went right up to them and got their autographs (No pics though (didn't have a camera)).

Probably not. It depends if they are with their family etc.

I'm not sure her profile on IMDB would show the disdain that most of the general public had for her. She was "attractive" by wearing a lot of make-up and wearing bottle-blond hair, but she had absoluly zero, nada, nil, null zippo talent. What she had, was a very rich husband. He financed her forays into show business by paying to produce her one movie, "Butterfly." Nobody knew what she did, but they all recognized her name because her husband also paid a lot of money for a publicist.

So to say that she had an escort isn't just saying "An actress from the '80s still gets an escort" -- to certain circles, she was a real joke and nobody took her seriously.

Well, maybe she got an escort because she is very wealthy?
Maybe fear of being recognized or kidnap threats to her child?
I agree, hubby her 'fame'.

As far as asking for an autograph. Hmm.

Super Soap Weekend I did and I didn't. In the beginning when I knew I would have the opportunity to meet these people, I didn't bug them but instead waited in line and got pictures that way.

That night, when I realized how difficult it was to be one of the x amount of people they let in at each time sitting, I wasn't so shy.

I grabbed Michael E. Knight {I love Tad!!} and that next morning when I saw Cameron Matheson in all of his glory, I had to ask him, too. I have to add, I asked and would definitely have taken no for an answer. I would have been sad but I was also worried about bringing attention to them.

That is why I am so happy to have a good zoom on my camera. I can take a picture from afar {in the daytime} and they wouldn't know {them or other people}.

I think there is a big difference in something like SuperSoap weekend, seeing the stars, even just 'out and about' instead of at the official meet and greet and asking for a photo op or autograph than seeing them with their families trying to have some "normal" time. The few celebrities we've 'seen' at the park I've noticed that almost everyone that does recognize them does the same as I do, acknowledges their presence with a wave or something but tend not to attempt to disturb their privacy. Of course that is why they have the CM escorts, so that they have someone to run interference for them without being rude.

Personally, I wouldn't bug them, but that might be the ol' CM brainwashing talking (it never really leaves you y'know? I still point with two fingers sometimes!)
